Which diesel in Germany?

Polaris and Artic Cat ATV's?

Hope you are happy with your purchase. I have used bobcat and case mostly and between the two I would take the case anyday as the bobcat is hard to see out of the back of. I don't have much experiance with the deese's but we seem to sell a lot of them at work, just watch what you put into it for hyd fluid. I belive that should have the low-vis hygard. It is a 10 wht oil as opposed to the 30 wt of their conventioal. Just check with your local service manager before you fill, I know the new ones are the low-vis and if filled incorrectly the pump will suffer a bad future.

Some OEM's can deny warranty in hydraulic or hydrostatic failures if they find you didnt use the oem oil. Hydro. perfomance is pushing harder and harder these days, and our vendors (Sauer-Danfoss, for ex. ) are very critical of what fluids go into their product.

You got it tgordon..... 5 years ago we cold use SAE 30 engine oil to "get back to the barn", 10 years ago you could use 30wt, mercron, dextron, or most anything slippery, and get by with it for good just caus ya' didnt know any better. Today, ATF can very quickly destroy a hydrostat, and even engine oil is now prohibited by warranty.

From the specs I see the T250 and the ct 332 are apples and oranges. Same approx hp but the jd is more of a machine. And like you said the jd service is just way closer. The closest bobcat dealer is 200 miles away. JD also has good financing at this time.

for clarification, I wasnt comparing the two, but thought the T250 would fit the job described without extra cost. But, glad you like the larger Deere. Hope its fun.

Bobcats are definitely cheaper, you get what you pay for!

Nver herd that one before. Nortrax (formerly Tiger Deere) and Cat have a habit of under-cutting the bobcat dealer here. FWIW>>>> The hydraulic/hydro & elect. compnents of most skid's come from the same manufacturers. Like rexroth, sauer-danfoss, welvoil(sp?), Timken, bosch, and at least 2 oem's even use the same wire harness manufacturer. Engine, drivetrain desighn, and general asthetics/ergonomics seem to be the critical divisions.

Great thread! Awesome advice to have the hydraulics tested prior to purchasing.

What are the differences between the Case 1840, 1845 and the 1845C?

Do any of these have 4BT engines?

Seems like you can get one for ~$9k used...

I'll be in the market for a skidsteer in the next year or so and I'm seeking out a Case model with a 4B Cummins. We'll use it to move around horse manure, hay bales and general hobby farm shenanigans. I'd like to plow snow with it, too.

Thanks,

Matt

They all have 4b's in them. 1845 is older than 45c, 1840 is a little smaller. I can't remember if the 45c has a turbo or not. I know the 40 doesn't. They are all good machines, but I would stay newer, 40 and 45c!

So only the models I listed have 4B's? (1840, 1845, 1845C) I definitely want a 4B powered skid steer - no doubt about it.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Oh no! All the XT series have 4B's in them! From the 40xt to the 95xt. The 95xt has a 4bt, it's around 100 hp. I love it, it's a real animal! Has a 2 speed button on the stick, fast and smooth. The problem is, when they were new, an 1845c was about $25k, and a 95xt was about $45k. It's all in what you want to spend. ;) Now the new ones are the 400 series, the small ones have a Shiboura diesel, and the bigger ones have the 4. 3 CNH (Case/New Holland) Cummins in them.

Sweet. Thanks for the info.

Those ASV's look sweet, but I'm mostly going to be running the skidsteer in the barn on a cement floor scooping manure and a track'd machine doesn't seem like the way to go. I also don't want to shell out megabucks when it comes time to buy it new sneakers.

I have the biggest bobcat S300 (rubber tires). After operating N. H. ,case, mustang,J. D. ,the robot, cat,& others I still bought bobcat. Bobcat is the world leader in skidloaders, they out sell everyone. Service is great,at least here in wis. They also have the highest resale. After 1,000's of hours of seat time I still have no regrets or complaints. Mine has dual controls (hand or Foot), great for multi-operators,cab with a/c,& Power bob- tac(never leave the seat to change attachments). Also grouser steel tracks are a must for sand, mud, steep hills. The 82hp. kubota is a fine motor. Back 3 years ago it was about $33,000.

... . the biggest bobcat ... .

They just 1 up'd ya. There is an S330, although, so far it looks like a modified 300. Lots of counterweight and larger wheels>> 14. 5x17. 5 or so. Same engine, but a few more HP. Same basic frame, too, but chains and axles are beefier.
