New Snow machine Questions

Recession/Depression

Have been giving some thought for a way of running a trapline this winter. First thought was a Snow machine, while certainly fast enough its kind of noisy and cost of fuel is going up and down and then having to leave the woods to get the stuff would be a PITA, especially in the place that the line will be.

Anywho I have seen Skijoring done it town with horses, I enjoy watching this daring feat of Manhood & testicular fortitude, but for me I WANT NO PART OF being trampled by a horse, its not on my bucket list, disturbed as I am its just not for me

I seen a few people doing this last winter with Dogs. some run one, two and the daring have four or more dogs. Don't need to many more animals around the house but the addition of another Dog would be no big expense or work for that matter. Was thinking about a 2 dog sled as well.

Just wondering if any of the guys from the Northern tier states have participated in this sort of activity before.

Not very dignified when the dog doesn't run fast enough. But what happens when the dog leaps over a fallen tree and the skier doesn't? 'Barked shins' (well, 'shin' in your case) would likely be an understatement. And even less dignified. But it's certainly a way to get around and doesn't let the dog get fat and lazy.

If the dog runs faster than I can Cross Country Ski fester then its plenty fast. As for the other problem that you mentioned LET GO!! most of the ones I have seen use a kind of single ski rope handle like on water skiing unless they are crossing a frozen lake or following a river.
