Does anyone Know if the 2. 5" skyjacker lift for the rear end is as strong as the stock leaf springs? I have a 5th wheel trailer that I haul that weighs about 14,400 lbs. If I lift the rear end of the truck (to level it up) will the skyjacker springs hold it up under this load? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Hope somebody responds to the skyjacker question as my 90 squats down in the back and i also was thinking about a lift. also would like to know if the skyjacker rear springs retain the block in the rear. and i also tow a 5th wheel 24 foot...

Hey Guys,

I'm running the rear skyjacker springs on my 93, i bought the 2 1/2 " system that came with 6" rear springs that maintain stock rear hight but replaces the blocks, they ride great.

My camper stays on my truck all the time at aprox 1500# loaded the truck drops about an inch, if i hook up my boat (another 800# tonge weight) i drop another inch, the spring are progresive after the first 1 1/2 they stiffen, skyjacker told me hey were designed to handle the same load as stock.

2.5" Skyjacker lift

I installed the 2. 5" Skyjacker lift on my 1990 W-350 about 1. 5 years ago. I bought the kit that uses an add-a-leaf with your original rear springs. This kit keeps the factory blocks in place. My front springs were bodly sagging so the kit raised the front a good 4". The add-a-leafs raised the rear 3. 5". My truck is a welding rig that weighs 10,000 lbs + every day and goes abuot 30,000 miles a year, a lot of it on rough or non existent roads. The springs have held up very good and I would recomend this modification.

I JUST INSTALLED TH ESKYJACKER 4" FRONT AND REAR SPRINGS ON MY '91. THEY GAVE IT A TRUE 4" LIFT FRONT AND REAR AND SEAMS TO HANDLE TH EWEIGHT JUST FINE. THE REAR STILL USES THE FACTORY BLOCKS. DEFINITLY A GOOD UPGRADE.

Is the skyjacker 2. 5 lift pretty straight forward install?? also what was the cost thanks for all the help this stuff is great. . Gerry

I paid about $700 for the entire system with the big rear springs

so i could get rid of the blocks, if you do any 4 wheelin i would recomend doing away with the blocks,

The only problem i had installing the sysytem was the left rear spring front bolt, i had to tilt the fuel tank down to get it out and back in, other than that no problem... ... ..... Rick

2.5" lift

The kit with add-a-leaf for the rear cost me about $250. I looked at replacing the rear springs but didnt care for the large ammount of arch that it took eliminate the blocks. I decided I could always replace the rear springs at a later date if the add-a-leafs with stock springs and blocks didnt work out. Ive never had any problems , the leaf you install is extremely stiff, Ive had no axle wrap or wheel hop problems that I thought might occur. As I said, my truck is a work truck ( welding rig) that spends a lot of time in off road situations that most sensible folks would avoid, but we have no choice. If its any help- with the 2. 5" springs on the truck for 1. 5 years now I have 25" measured from the center of the front hub to the top of the wheel well opening. this is a 1990 , dually, with no evidence of the springs starting to sag. Originally I was leery of the rear blocks also but have had no problem after way too much abuse .

I recently did the SJ 2. 5" springs. The truck looked fine to me, but that same thread made me go and measure. From the ground to the top of the fender moulding there is a 3/8" difference. Since I can't see the difference with my eye I say the measuring could be off ie... tire pressure, driveway uneven, moulding inconsistant, sheetmetal tolerances, twisted frame, I could go on and on. I can't see it so I'm going to leave it as is. Maybe it is the springs? I don't mind.

SClements,

when you did the 4" lift did your truck ride crooked (tilted tpo the driver's side?)I was going to do a 4" lift to my 90 until I read a bout them riding funny!? what did you have to do? i. e. brakes sway bars, kit or system? $?

Hey Rick, when you said you got the whole system for $700, is that front and rear or just rear. I had some front springs made for my truck and they lifted the front approximately 2 or 2. 5". I just want to level out the truck and still be able to haul my 5th wheel. Thanks to everyone for the quick responses and advice.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

The 700 was for the front and rear, the rear springs the send with the cummins system are actualy the rear springs for a 6" lift and when installed without the blocks makes for a level ride,

Skyjacker does sell just the rear.

As far as the truck tilting to one side, i have'nt measured but nothing noticable... ... ..... RD

RICK THANKS FOR INFO DID YOU GET NEW SHOCKS WITH THE SYSTEM OR USE THE STOCK SHOCKS AND ARE THERE ANY DRIVE LINE ISSUES TO LOOK AT AGIAN THANKS FOR THE HELP GERRY

Gerry,

I started out with the Skyjacker Hydro shocks and rode them for about 2 years, the last year i switched to Ranch RS9000's, on road i think the hydro's road better, but offroad the 9000's are great, since the truck is a little top heavy with the camper the 9000's stop the swaying back and forth on rough slow roads.

Rick

Note: the stock rear shocks will fit but the fronts will be to short

Re: SClements,

FRANK BOYLE

I INSTALLED THE 4" SYSTEM WITH FRONT AND REAR SPRINGS AND THE TRUCK RIDES GREAT, IT RIDES BETTER THAN STOCK AND IS LEVEL. THE LIFT CAME WITH SHOCKS. THE ONLY OTHER THING I DID WAS REPLACED THE REAR SHACKLES BECAUSE MY BOLTS WERE RUSTED INTO THEM. THE NEW SHACKLES FROM DODGE ARE UPDATED TO ACCEPT THE LARGER 3/4" BOLTS. THE SPRINGS COME WITH A VARIETY OF BUSHINGS TO ACCOMIDATE YOUR TRUCK. MINE USED 1/2" BOLTS IN THE FRONT AND 5/8" AND 3/4" IN THE REAR. 33'S LOOK GOOD BUT 35'S WOULD CLEAR FINE AND PROBABLY LOOK BETTER.

I'm thinking about putting the four inch lift on my truck does anyone have any pictures of thier trucks with that lift even pics of a six inch lift will work just like to see what it looks like before I do it.
