Time to order my lift kit:D I'm going with rear as well as front springs to get rid of those huge lift blocks in the rear and more suspension travel in the front.

Three objectives-

1) Level the truck.

2) Clear the big fat 305-70-16 tires I just installed.

3) Soften the ride.

I've narrowed my choice to Skyjacker or National Spring for the springs, the rest of the parts will be from Skyjacker -

Dual shocks up front

New upper and lower links up front

I ordered a DT trac bar on Wed.

QUESTION PLEASE...

Who has used rear springs from Skyjacker or National Spring?

Comments????

Dane,

I was looking at lifts way back when I had my 99 V10, and I decided on the Skyjackers, but I wrecked the truck just before I went to order it. :( IMO, Skyjackers are going to give you a better ride since they have designed the springs for the bigger trucks.

I am the culprit

Hello Dane,

I have had the National spring pack on my 01 for over a year now.

And it is one of the best mods that i did to my truck. go with national spring over Skyjacker for the following reason.

Custom made to your specs.

You go to a certified scale and weight the back half and the whole truck(mine was 2950,7310) and tell them what you want. IE. softest initial ride and also handle my 750 trailer tongue wt.

What i got was a 11 spring pack that has a great ride. 12 inches of wheel travel and great trailer combo with my Rancho 9000 on 4 or 5

The truck is much better riding and works so well off road I can play out in the desert going up some decent hills in 2WD :D

this is most impressive considering the nose heave trucks we drive

:)

the only problem i had was they were supposed to give me one inch of lift and i ended up loosing a inch of ht and they sent me a set of 2 inch blocks and new u-bolts instead of un-installing the new springs and sending them away for a week for re-arching

Go for it. you will love the results

just not the $700 bill and the 6wk wait

Best regards

DD

I know of many Skyjacker kits with new rear leaves that are either too low in the rear compared to the front when installed, or they sag very rapidly after installation. If you go with Skyjacker - or any suspension system for that matter - tell them you don't want the rear to sag in a couple weeks.

Good luck.
