It has only been about 2wks since I did mine, so it's a short test. I looked at it this AM, from outward appearances(sp?) they look OK. Instead, I found a crack in the low end of plate that is inbetween the PS pump and the frame  . After this truck, I would be bored silly with a '02. I guess a 1st gens work is never done.

Poly-urethane is supposed to be the best and most durable material for bushings. Hope I'm right, time will tell.

Steering Bracket Crack

Hey DieselBuzz!:)

Sorry to hear about the cracked Steering Box Bracket! If it's any consolation... It's a fairly common occurence & a cheap & easy fix.

The bracket is about $15. 00 from you local Dodge dealer. I'll try to dig up a Part Number for you! If you have trouble ordering on... . I have a spare.

Just consider it good quality time spent with an impressive piece of equipment! :D

KEENO:)

Skyjacker front spring

Finished my installation yesterday. Ended up using the skyjacker bushings with new 5/8 bolts from Dodge. Welded a piece of flat stock on top of bolt head to keep it from turning. Did this on only one side just to see if the other side loosens. ( Kind of stupid, I know but, hey,it's my truck) The springs leveled the truck nicely and improved the ride greatly.

I did run into one major problem which is peculiar to my set-up. Last spring I had installed a viscous coupler in the front drive train to help save my running gear while plowing snow. It allows the use of 4-wheel drive on hard pavement by providing slippage, it works great. However you need to shorten the front driveshaft about 3" to compensate for the width of the coupler. You guessed it. When I raised the truck 2 1/2" with the skyjackers the driveshaft is now too short by about 3". If I jack the truck under the frame until the wheels are off the ground (unload the springs) the driveshaft will actually fall apart!!

I'm not sure the coupler will be able to stay as the angle of the driveshaft with the skjackers is too steep. I will have to wait for the next snowstorm to see if it can tolerate 6-10hrs of hard use.

Booinngg

Yeah!!! I got my shocks on yesterday. What a wonderful difference! Now my front end doesn't feel like a pogo stick! I retorqued the "U" bolt nuts 'cuz I mounted one side at a time and didn't get them even. Lubed all the nips and even put a little anti-seize on the calipers where they slide. Ahh, it feels great!

KEENO Thanks for the bracket info, price and the right perspective. I needed it.
