Skyjacker front spring
Finished my installation yesterday. Ended up using the skyjacker bushings with new 5/8 bolts from Dodge. Welded a piece of flat stock on top of bolt head to keep it from turning. Did this on only one side just to see if the other side loosens. ( Kind of stupid, I know but, hey,it's my truck) The springs leveled the truck nicely and improved the ride greatly.
I did run into one major problem which is peculiar to my set-up. Last spring I had installed a viscous coupler in the front drive train to help save my running gear while plowing snow. It allows the use of 4-wheel drive on hard pavement by providing slippage, it works great. However you need to shorten the front driveshaft about 3" to compensate for the width of the coupler. You guessed it. When I raised the truck 2 1/2" with the skyjackers the driveshaft is now too short by about 3". If I jack the truck under the frame until the wheels are off the ground (unload the springs) the driveshaft will actually fall apart!!
I'm not sure the coupler will be able to stay as the angle of the driveshaft with the skjackers is too steep. I will have to wait for the next snowstorm to see if it can tolerate 6-10hrs of hard use.
