I would defiantly agree with Fdavid.
Also when I did mine I didn't have to disconnect the steering rods but I did remove the sway bar from the axle.
This is what I did in appx order.
Put front end on jackstands behind axle under the frame. Then put a floor jack under axle.
loosen sway bar bolts where it attached to the front of the truck.
Remove the tierods from swaybar and swing swaybar out of the way. (don't loose the bushings

)
Remove trac bar where it attaches to the axle.
Lower axle with jack till the control arm won't allow it to extend any further.
The Skyjacker springs will not fit in their without a spring compressor. I rented one from NAPA for $25.
If the spring compressor is maxed out and you cant lower the axle anymore to increase the space for the new springs THEN disconnect the lower control arm from the frame mount. (not the axle) This will allow it to drop down a few more inches.
Remember after install to get a
Front end alignment.
Hope this helps. I did mine on a 2001 but it should be about the same. (I think)
Good luck.
