Hye,

One of my front springs was broken so after some readings, I installed Skyjacker D25 front springs.
The new springs are a lot taller than the 24 years old ones... my truck is now taller on the front than on the rear, and I have a heavy front bumper. Could my rear leaf springs be tired ? What space should I have between the bump stop and the axle ?
I jacked the rear up 3 1/4 to level the truck... I think the front springs will settle down a little but not that much... I do not see any broken leaf or shackle. Any idea ?

Anyone has good experiences with helper springs or add a leaf (Skyjacker, Fabtech, etc...) ? Since I'm not ready to replace the whole spring packs...

My goal is to lift the rear about 2 inches when empty. I don't think airbags will help a lot for that (unless fully inflated...), but I understand the benefits of airbags when loaded.

When you ordered the springs, were you aware they have a 2-2.5" lift built in? You will probably need to get a matching rear set. I don't recommend lift blocks, Dodge already uses a tall block. I doubt the helper or add a leaf will lift that much. Air bags are to maintain height not lift.

I looked up the add a leaf and it looks like it will lift 1-1.5", it probably depends on the oem springs condition. The rear spring set, adds about 4".

Yes I was aware of the front springs lift. I thought it would be a good thing because I have a heavy front bumper and the rear seemed to be higher. There is about 3 inches lift at that time but they will probably settle at about 2" with time (?) It seems that my rear springs are a little tired too...The complete spring set is expensive at that time so I thought about the add a leaf thing...

The D25 Skyjacker springs will settle a bit with time. You can expedite this with some full-travel exercise offroad.
