Ok, first of all feel free to call me an idiot. Here's the story: Just fixed 5th gear, and replaced the clutch/pp and throwout bearing. Get it all back together and the clutch pedal won't move (don't ask why we didn't check until then). We were pretty sure that it was riding in the socket on the throw out bearing arm, but not positive. Well my dumb ass pushed in the clutch too hard, and blew the slave cylinder. Truck runs and drives fine. Did I just not have the actuating rod in the socket and it was bottomed out- thus no travel??? If something wasn't together right I'd hear all kinds of noise right? Can't get a new slave cylinder until tomorrow, and I just want someone to tell me that I don't have to drop the transmission again. How far back from the bell housing should the throw out bearing arm sit??

TIA

Brandon

when you put it together the slave pisten will extend out all the way from sitting. Line up socket and push it even with the bell housing and start the nuts ,it should not take to much pressure. If you missed the socket your clutch pedal will be hard as a rock. DON'T force the pedal down. I geuss you found out the hard way. Look in the slave hole with alight and make sure you did'nt put the arm on backwards ,or if you changed the throwout bearing and put it in the wrong side of the arm. Quentin

if you're an idiot then I am too! I did the same thing, but I did it to the master... I let the piston extend out to the point that it lipped the edge of the cylinder... the pedal was rock hard, so I stood on it and broke the master pushrod! LOL!

I am in the process of pulling the transmission for the second time. It appears that there is something not together right in the bell housing because there isnt enough length to the cylinder to reach the clutch forks. My guess is that the throw out bearing may be in backwards. Oh well live and learn i guess.

bummer... wouldn't be so bad if these trannies didn't weigh a million pounds! I guess the bright side is that you don't have a 6sp, they weigh about TWO million! :p

Got the transmission out tonight and low and behold the arm had fallen off the pivot point somewhere along the way. Fixed it and put it back in and everything appears to be right. Should finish tomorrow and hopefully everything works.

I put everything back together and installed a new slave. Everything has been fine for a couple of weeks. Last night i put on a new crank speed sensor and when i got in to try it the clutch wouldnt engage. I pulled of the slave and the actuator isnt moving. Disconnected the line from the back of the slave and it pushes fluid. Is there a way to bleed the system. I spent an hour trying to bleed out any air last night and had no luck. Really need help on this one, i am tired of takeing that slave cylinder off.
