A year or so ago I remember somebody on here posting pics of a sleeper conversion for a 2nd gen club cab. It was basically some different back side windows that stuck out a bit further. Does anyone have a link to these, are they still made? I searched here but can't seem to find the original post:confused: TIA

Supposedly they were a loophole in the sleeper requirements for OTR pickups. NOT!!! When the falacy was exposed the demand went away and as far as I know, so did the company that made them.

You can see a set here. Cummins Forum Garage - Message

Perhaps you could join that forum and send him a PM.

There was one for sale on the San Diego Craig's List real cheap about a month or so ago. I suggested to my brother that he buy it to make room in the cab for human passengers by making his 140 lb slobbering Rott'nLab ride in it.

From what I understand the Crew Cab Sleeper is not DOT compliant. Some have used them without any problems, but others have run into problems. There is another company (Woodhouse) with a similar sleeper that is DOT compliant for commercial use. Of course if you are not running commercial it would not matter. Major drawback that I know of is the front passenger seat must be removed to be legal. Here is a link.

The original poster lives in the United Kingdom so he probably doesn't care much about our USDOT rules.

I knew that Harvey. I was only saying that without a demand, the product was probably not available any more.

The second link that was provided was not for the product the OP asked about, but the one for the "crew cab sleeper" is. The one I was referring to was only the window extensions. For all I know, the links' claims are legit.

I just want them for over night stays at antique tractor parades. . I'm too fat to rough it in a tent these days! Surely these are only ilegal in the US if your using it for business purposes?

You are correct.

How about what Americans call a camper shell or bed cap? Lots of pickup truck owners use molded fiberglass covers designed to match the airflow lines of the cab and truck bed styling. The covers bolt or clamp to the bed top and have a lift gate above the tailgate. They are very handy for carrying parts, tools, camping gear, etc. and provide all weather protection. I've owned camper shells in the past with a bunk added across the front or down one side for sleeping.

I really hate it when people call them 'camper shells'. It's misleading and makes searching for used campers on the internet extremely difficult and there is nothing "camper" about a bed cap or 'topper' as we call them around here.

What the hicks in Iowa call them doesn't change what the manufacturer's call them.

The brochures I have in my file cabinet for camper shells I've purchased in years past from the major US manufacturers refer to their products as "camper shells. "

I have a camper shell, bed cap, topper... ... Truckman top! I just find it a bit limiting sometimes I load my plow in the truck bed.

At least we 'Iowa hicks' know there is a difference between a camper and a mere hard shell bed cover.

By your 'reasoning', Harvey, and I use that term generously, all trailers must be 'campers', too? Same exact logic.

Go ahead. Call me a hick. I've seen the remains of texico recently and the joke's on you. We still speak English and fly one nation's flag here.
