Some time ago, I saw a 1st-generation Dodge with a 2. 5-3" sleeper-type cab extension that was mounted in the bed and accessible through a door in the back. I think it had a couple of sideways-mounted jumpseats and sealed to the back window of the truck like a lot of camper shells do. It looked kind of like the front end of a camper shell with a commercial-style full length vertical door on the back side. Does anyone know who makes these? I have a 2001 RAM2500 5. 9CTD regular cab I would like to put one in.

When I responded to this question before I gave the wrong name for the company, but seen one last night at Rawlins, WY Flying J, so now I got it right.

I couldn't find a website for them but am sure they had one at one time when I was researching for my sleeper. It's probably still there, just different name than I searched.

They make whatever you want, stretch and install a pretty good sized sleeper/camper. Or just a put it in the box behind the window and crawl through. Trouble with the in the box one's is you can't jack the fiver as far. But I've seen haulers using them and they said with caution no problem.

Thanks for the info. No luck on locating a website for M&M Campers, and the Roadmaster's site appears to be shut down. Weldon makes a sleeper but the frame has to be stretched or you have to make a short flatbed. I don't need it to use as a sleeper, I am looking for the type that sits in the bed and is for extra passengers. With the popularity and availability of 4-door/ extended cab trucks, the already limited market may have diminished enough to put the manufacturer(s) out of business if it was their only product line. I don't tow with the truck so I don't have to worry about 5th wheel clearance. I wonder if one could be made by shortening a commercial style camper shell (the type with the single vertical door in the back). Anybody dunnit?

McKinley Custom Conversions

Is this what you are thinking of? I am seriously contemplating doing this to the 97. I saw one in the parking lot at work and talked to the guy that owned it. He had a 95 regular cab 3500 2wd and had this conversion done 250k miles ago and really liked it. It looked good, even after all this time and miles.

That is very close! The one I am looking for sits in the bed and is entered from the bed. You don't have to cut your truck up. If the price was acceptable I could probably live with the McKinley Conversion but I really don't want the cab and bed cut up. The nice thing about the McKinley is there is room for a tool box behind it.

That is close, but it is strictly a "sleeper" and sits on top of the bed rails and does not extend below the rails. In their "faq" area they say they do not make one with a seating area which is what I need. The kids would probably fit in the sleeper--if I let all of the hot air out of 'em first.

Thanks very much to everyone who has replied to this post. I am a new member and a first time Cummins owner. The response has been more than what I expected and is very much appreciated.

sleeper options

try cowtownsleepers.com

its located in Fort Worth, TX. They have pictures of sleepers on trucks posted.

The Mckinley product looks awesome and if I just could afford one I would buy it in a heartbeat. I bought a used Triglas model from "gotsoot" but have not been able to find some needed parts for it. The Cow Town model looks very similar if not identical to the Triglas, so maybe they can help me with the parts issue. If anyone has pictures of a finished interior from one of these please post them. I need all of the ideas I can get especially in regard to covering the interior with some kind of insulated carpet type material and making some comfortable seats.

tried looking up the mckinley conversion website... could not find. also tried his number. . not his anymore. does anyone know if this business of mckinley conversions went under? i'm talking about the article in issue 47 member 2 member area

thanks andy
