Is anyone out there using a slide in bed camper? I looked at these a few days ago, and I was pretty impressed. I am looking at these as a way to turn the truck into a temporary motorhome when it is time to take the kids on long trips. I am also looking at these slide in campers as a way to take the jetskis with me whenever I hit the lake for camping. I dont want to have a caravan of toys going down the highway behind me...

If you have a slide in camper, Please tell me what you think of them.

Simple. Get a Lance. They have a model for any truck. Check out this web site to see what will fit on your truck. http://www.lancecamper.com/

Happy camping!

Not so fast. There are a LOT of excellent truck campers out there to choose from. Lance is one of several very good models but it's FAR from being the only good one. Take the time to shop and if you have the time, take a look at the independent RV RATING BOOK by JD Gallant. It rates the Lance and every other slide in camper out there. You'll be surprised at what's rated best.

Where do I get this book? Thanks

I agree that there are many GREAT slide-in campers out there. You also have to find the one that best suits your needs. For me, I chose the Bigfoot after looking at many different brands.

Don't have one anymore but when I did it was nice to go places that a pull type trailer will not go. Word of caution is that these trucks are already heavy so watch the weight on whatever you buy unless you want to start adding airbags, extra leaf springs and other stabilazation hardware.

I personally liked my Pastime made here in the NW but I would look into a Bigfoot if in the market. Had an older Lance ('85) hope the quality is better now.

If you are just starting to research 'em, do a search on pickup campers at happycampers http://happycampers.net/bbs/new.html

You'll see lots of feedback from people who love pickup campers and use them for different things. This will help you narrow down size, cost, options, and manufacturer that's best for you.

I could ramble on this topic, but I will keep it to this. BigFoot, if you want the camper to last and present the best quality out there.

End of story.

PS the Happycampers sits is a very good resource.

I've got a 10 ft Sunlite popup w/ s/t and I am totally happy w/ it. Kinda heavy, but drags less wind than a hard side.
Big A
