I recently purchased a 2005 Ram 3500 DRW. In reading the pink sheet on truck camper loading it has a remark "this vehicle not recommended for use with slide in campers". Does anyone have a clue why that might be. The dealer does not know. The GVWRs are all in range. Replies may also be sent to my email: -- email address removed --. Thanks.

I have an 11'-3" Lance extended cab-over on my 05 DRW. I have not had a problem. I read all the discussion mentioned by klenger and I read my owners manual. All it says is that if you have the snow plow package it is not recommended to haul a slide in camper. If I remember correctly it has to do with all the extra weight up front with the snow plow package. I also called the Dodge representative on the listed toll free number. He asked for my VIN # and said that I can haul a slide in camper as long as it does not exceed the GVWR. If you still have doubts, call the factory rep. They are much better then talking to a dealer salesmen. Grizzly :)

Thanks for the detailed response. I missed the previous discussion some have mentioned occurring weeks ago as I have recetnly returned from Iraq. i have a Lance 1130 on a 2002 Ram 3500 and have had no issues with it, handles like a dream. Sure like the new silence and other features of the 2005 Cummins Truck. Take care. BTW how did you make contact with the factory rep? Is there a easy method? TNX again

No problems so far with our Bigfoot 10-1/2 foot camper. Tork lift tie downs, firestone air bags. Matter of fact I had two pallets of cmu retaining wall blocks in the bed a couple weekends ago. (approx 6500 lbs acording to the yard manager). The truck handled the weight very well with full pressure in the tires and about 70 psi in the air bags.

Slide in camper

I run with a 11 1/2 coachman slide in unit on my rig, Just installed new kyb shocks truck handles great. I'm going to add firestone ride right air bags in tne next few weeks,Just for the added safety.

I just got my '05 Quad cab 4x4 short bed and there was the same piece of paper in my glove box (mine was white though, not pink. . ha ha) It said that my truck was not recommended for slip in campers, NO explanation as to WHY though. There was nothing about this in my owners manual, although there is a section in the owners manual about driving WITH a slide-in camper, this limitation was not mentioned anywhere in there.
