Any one have a slide in camper in a Mega cab? I have a 8 foot camper to put in mine (worked fine in my Dmax 6' box). The camper is not very heavy (1200# empty) and the center of gravity is all the way fwd on the camper. Did you need a sway bar? or any other info you found the hard way.

My 8' Starcraft popup camper weighs about the same empty, I use it on my '06 QC SB with the tailgate down. I was worried about center of gravity as well but it's not an issue at all, even fully loaded. I would be surprised if it were any different in a mega cab. I was more concerned the rear tie down mounts on the camper were located at the end of the tailgate and ended up making my own simple, cheap, and effective tie down setup that isn't visible without looking inside the bed.

My sister and her husband have an 06 3500 srw truck/megacab and have had no trouble with a 9 foot lance camper. They do have 19. 5s on the truck and they use it exclusively in Alaska. It rides level and well even though the camper dry weight is 2500 or so.

Thanks that is great info. I believe I know one of you, ship in Kodiak? If so we have talked about some fuel issues we both have had and know each other from work!

Thanks again that is what I am looking for.

I added a Helwig sawy bar on mine... got if for a good price from a member here. I also added Rancho 9000XL adjustable shocks. It did OK for a #2,800 camper.

If I still had the camper I would be looking still for a little something more for sway such as some sort of block to engage the helper springs sooner. There are several types out there, but one I have heard a lot about is Torklift :: The Stable Load. I have seen folks make blocks out if 2x2 TS to raise the contact point.
