For the Hensley Hitch Owners

I have torque lift on the front and snaps on the bumper on the rear for slide-in camper tie downs. I don't have a hitch on the back so I could not use torque lift on the rear.

My question is this: my tie downs are chains with turnbuckles in the middle. I then tighten the turnbuckles to secure the camper to the bed. I keep a little play all the way around without getting real tight. The problem is the turnbuckles keep backing off from road vibration and getting loose providing to much play. Anybody use this type of setup or have these problems?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide !!

Turnbuckles

All the camper turnbuckles that I have used came loose unless a locking nut was added. The only exception to this was the Happi Jac spring loaded ones I purchased new and they came with the lock nut already installed.

Use HappiJacs all around, spring loaded in the front and rigid in the rear. I've been told (by Lance Campers) that chains will get slack on bumps then tighten causing a shock affect to the camper which could cause damage.

If at all possible, get it frame mounted, it's worth the expense of a hitch to use the rear frame mount and frame mount in the front. A recent post said he used a bumper mount and in a high wind it pulled his bumper up 2 inches.
