Should I buy

Going to use 2500 short bed to pull enclosed gooseneck- Have heard about the "sliding" hitch that lets you move hitch ball back for sharp turning. Anyone use one of these? Any recommended brand? Is it more trouble than it's worth? Also looking at getting trailer with less "overhang" for better turning. Any advice would be appreciated!

Sorry mine don't move.

I think that Reese and Drawtite have one for a 5er, I don't know of anyone with a "sliding goose neck"

Good luck.

See Ya

Mtempleton,

I have a Reece slider that works fine. I'm not impressed with the 5th wheel pin lock mechanism on the basic hitch but I haven't had a problem. Though it would have worked well stock, I measured my buddy's slider and extended mine four inches for lots of clearance. Also welded the nuts (for the basic rail mounts) underneath the bed and replaced the carriage head bolts so that I can easily remove the rails when not using the hitch. HTH.

I don't know about a gooseneck hook-up. I think this is the first time that question has come up. With my RV customers, I recommend changing the king-pin box to an extended pin box rather than the cost and hassle of a slider. The cost of changing the pin box is less than 200 bucks. Mi dos pesos.....

I'm starting to think that this is going to be more of a problem than I first realized. I don't have the trailer yet, so I can order it either way- gooseneck or fifthwheel. I guess I will have to go with a fifthwheel with an extended kingpin box, or a gooseneck with about half of the overhead space. Thanks for the reply's, still thinking about what I'm going to do.
