Okay,

I hear guys saying they slid the plate forward.

Is that towards the front of the truck or Vice Versa. .

ALSO, Where is the original stock position of the plate.

How can that be determined. ??????

Thanks

The RackMan asketh many sometimes stupid questions.....

It means sliding the torque plate towards the front of the motor. In your case your # 6 plate.

ONLY do it if your just trying to fine tune your plate to your truck, and even then you only need to slide it very little.

You should scribe a line on the housing even with the front of the stock plate before removing it. If you skipped this step sometimes you can see the screw marks on the stock plate and scribe a line after reinstalling. There is no magic number for the stock position, each engine has been set individually. A very tiny bit of adjustment goes a long way, we're talking a few thousandths of an inch. Slideing the plate full forward is a just a cheap power mod, you may get more power but you can't really use it because your egts will climb fast.

some equations on the subject

Plate centered = Stock

Bombing = Not Stock

Aftermarket plate centered = :rolleyes:

Forward = Bombing

Forward = Free HP

Forward = Free Torque ... approx. = 2. 2 x HP

In 215 pump, full forward HP - centered HP = 60

Forward = :D
