Just got back from a 750 mile trip (unloaded). When I went to pass on a two lane road,Full throttle, between 60-70 miles an hour I have a slight, but noticeable knocking sound for a short period time. It almost sounds like a spark knock. The truck has about 9,500 hundred miles on it. I use stanadyne performance fuel condtioner. This is my first diesel, just kind of curious if this is normal. Thanks for any info, coobie:)

Ive heard the same a couple of times... i wouldnt worry about it,

its probably just the pilot Inj. adjustin alittle.

Then again it might be a injector not closing all the way.

I agree with Mitch. Probably pilot injection making some adjustments and causing a little pinging.
Thanks for the Info. I just talked to the service manager at my local dealer,he tells me it is spark knock. He also says the are having some of problems with this in the 555 HO,s. I will be taking it in next week to find out for sure. Thanks again for the Info. coobie:D

I am not quite sure about spark knock being there wouldnt be any in a diesel engine, spark that is. Please anyone, correct me if I am wrong.

Please tell me that's not what the dealer actually said.

If he did say this, ask him to please locate a set of plugs that will fit your application. Then come back and tell us the part number.

Thats a QUOTE: right out of the service managers mouth, no BS. I kind of chuckled. I will see what the real problem is next week. I will keep you posted:D Thanks again coobie.

Please ask him to give you the part numbers for the spark plugs for this engine. It would be priceless if he can produce them.

And DC wonders why so many people hate dealers.
