My clutch is starting to slip in 5th and 6th gear around peak torque and past it. Not real bad, but you can kind of feel it let go and grab again. This is empty too. I will be towing this coming weekend and see how it acts. Are all 6 speed clutches this weak?

My main question is, what is the dealer going to do to test it if I tell them it is slipping? The EZ and boost elbow will be removed so the clutch will probably not slip at all. Am I better off not trying to screw the dealer out of a new clutch and replace it myself with a better one, or should I try to get them to replace it?

What do you guys think? Opinions and suggestions will be appreciated.

The truck has 23000 miles on it.

thanks

The dealer will only replace it with another stock clutch - so that option is just postponing the inevitable.

Also as you point out it may not slip with the EZ off.

My $. 02 - go with an aftermarket and change it yourself. This way you get a better clutch and avoid all the bad things the dealer will do to your truck while they have it.

Well, you can see my BOMBs in my signature line. I dyno'd the truck for the first time yesterday, it put 368 HP / 790 TQ on the Mustang Dyno. Clutch held every ounce of that power. I have the new Con FE clutch from South Bend. So far I am extremely happy with it. Altogether, including cost of the clutch and installation, was around $1300 as I recall. I currently have maybe 6,000 miles on the clutch.

That's one suggestion for you, give Peter at South Bend clutch a call and maybe get one for your truck!
