I've noticed over the past couple of months that if I short shift a gear and lug the motor to really "SMOKE" somebody that once my motors starts catching up with RPM's that it feels like my clutch is slipping??

Surely I'm not near 1,000FT/LBS of torque even at the flywheel with just the mods I have. My #10 is in the factory position for goodness sakes!

But when I lug it down a little to smoke when the motor starts building RPM's again it feels like the dang thing is slipping!

Its like I can feel the power coming on then... nothing..... back end feels squirrely and if I lift the clutch catches just fine and then there's nothing wrong.

I was messing with my cousin last night going outta town with a small 16ft tag-a-long loaded with 60 pallets (hardly nothing!) and I short shifted to smoke him and it did it well it was fine when I lifted and he acted like he was gonna come around me in the outside lane (4-lane) so I downshifted to 4th and left him :-laf

Beats me what does this sound like people? I asked him and he said the tires weren't breaking loose so I have no idea

Wish I had bought a SBC :{

P. S. clutch is only like 5 months old.

slipping

I hate to say it but that sure sounds like the clutch is slipping to me. P. S. I know a little about slipping the clutch Im on my third.

I know I'm gonna catch hell for this but... ...

it only does is when I lug the motor to really smoke somebody

I know I know... . easly solution. . don't lug it

Well I'm only 19 so I'm hard headed :-laf (that's my excuse)

slipping

Yeah thats usally were it starts only when lugging, but then you will soon notice it start slipping when fast accelerating through the gears, aka when that powerjoke pulls up beside you at the light.

What do you think my cousin drives! :-laf :-laf :-laf

92 Phurd F-250 7. 3 non-turbo (non-powerjoke, but still a phurd! :p )

I short shifted... . slipped..... lifted..... he switched lanes..... I downshifted..... and he got left still!! :D

Wouldn't it be under warrenty since I'm not @ 1,000ft/lbs? That would be rediculous... ... not to mention it doesn't do it when hauling loads or normal everyday driving.

clutch

Your probably right ,but I would see about getting the next size up just to be on the safe side , then when you want more fuel you'll have the clutch to hold it.

Nothings perfect!!

Not a stock clutch or aftermarket ones, you never know you might get a back clutch from any aftermarket vendor, the one you have or the one you want. Good Luck geting it taken care of.

Gotsmoke, have your watched your tach when this happens? I would think that if the tach shows increased RPM, and the speedo does not, your clutch is slipping. If the tach and speedo agree in speed increases, your tires are spinning. Just a thought.

yeah man mine was doing the same thing... it just continued to get worse so i got a SBC and have had no slippage since just smoke and headlights in my rearview... ..... see if you can get your money back from TST and get an SBC

Gents. . does the word TORQUE ring a bell... your in the max torque loads at the lower RPM and full loud pedal

next time buy it once and buy it right LOL ... SBC all the way, suggest you get the one that will hold the loads your building towards rather than the one for where your at now... just so you don't get to do this all over again.

Try in 4th or 5th gear to slip it. Restt he left foot and stand on the right one. If it's the clutch slipping, it should do it. If it only happens in the lower gears, it's the tires starting to let go.

I've had the same sensation a few times until I saw the marks on t road to tell me all was well. ;)

Got smoke,

What kind of rpms are you doing this at? I have the same set up as you but with the 4K kit. I have a Luk dual friction clutch and it holds fine at above 2000 rpm(don't even think about flooring it below 2000 rpm!) it will slip. But if someone pis*es me off on the freeway I will pop the clutch and lug it at 1700 rpm and it will fill 2 lanes of freeway with smoke. Just before the turbo starts to spool good, I feather off on the throttle just a bit and my clutch holds just fine. My clutch only costs about $400.

I would say if the company doesn't replace your clutch under warranty, you should save your money and buy a 4K gov. kit . Then you can bring the revs up much higher between shifts Say 3,500-3,700rpm. You will NOT slip your clutch at these shift points and you will walk away from most people trying to race you.

Garry.
