Anybody have any suggestions on how to eliminate slop where the intermediate steering shaft mates with the splines on the input shaft on the steering gearbox? I just installed a new Mopar intermediate shaft and a PSC steering gear about a year and a half ago, and now I notice that it seems to have slop mating with the splines again. The pinch bolt is as tight as I can get it. I don't want to shell out big bucks for a Borgeson shaft right now, if there is any way to firm up the current connection. I'm worried that the slop is going to wear down the splines on the PSC shaft, which I'm sure will then require a new steering gear $$$$$.

Thanks,

Are you sure you have the right box? I think there might be two different sizes of input shafts. If both parts are the right size there is no way for it to be sloppy if the bolt is tight and the parts are not screwed up. These things fit real close.

As far as I know, they are the right parts. I think I remember them fitting snug when I installed them, but there sure looks like play now--both laterally and radially.

The only thing I can think to do is pull it off and shave some of the pinch area away so you can pinch down further with the bolt. If you do, you'll have to add some washers to the bolt to compensate.

Just guessing...
