sloppy 1-2 shift

Will loosening up front band 1/2 turn cause harm. Seems to make stutter shift better. Also is it possible to revert 2006 back to cable shift instead of stepper motor control.

I don't know about loosening up the band, but you might check into Modern Horsepower's tcm tune. Modern Horsepower performance tuning, aftermarket upgrades, chips, and performance parts; including exhaust systems. EDIT sorry didn't look that yours was an 06 model.

I'd tighten it 1/2 turn from spec and make sure everything else is in order while you are at it.
