Hey Guys, I have just bought a new '07 3500 SRW 6. 7L 4X4 auto. I love the truck! I just have one concern. I have noticed that it idles around 680 RPM when in drive and in park. When I put it in reverse it drops down to about 500 RPM and feels like the power steering pump is having trouble turning the wheels . Also when I am slowing down to stop at a light, RPM drops down to about 600 before it downshifts to the next gear to bring the RPM back up to idle speed. Is this normal? I read in the manual that idle is supposed to be between 700-800 RPM for the 6. 7L. I took it in to the dealer and they said that they cannot adjust the idle speed because it is a parameter set by the factory. Does anyone have a 6. 7L that behaves like this or have any suggestions? Can anyone tell me what RPM their 6. 7L idles at in park and what it drops down to when put in reverse with the brake applied? Thanks.

Sounds like the typical dealership response. Being a parameter set by the factory and not being able to adjust it are totally different and unrelated things. Yet on a million topics... they'll tell you those two things in the same sentence and you'll believe they are not allowed to change it. Its possible. They just can't do it.

And your right... its sounds like something isn't right. To low.
