New forum look! Happy New Year!!

Website facelift - opinions please

I am experiencing real slow loading of pages. When I click on a forum it starts and indicates it is loading and then the "document done" comes on and all I have is a blank page and I have to click the back button and start over. I am not having this problem on any other sites that I follow. Any suggestions? Is this a site problem?

What browser are you running? It may be a bug with the new look of the website. I tested it with as many browsers as possible but can't hit all browsers and versions. Is it happening on a specific screen or on different screens?

I'm wondering if this problem only shows up on dial up connections?

Now that I think about it, I realize that this has rarely occured in the past. I thought it might be some sort of foul up with my ISP so didn't worry about it. The recent changes may have aggravated an existing bug.

It happened this morning when I clicked on my bookmark to load the main forum screen.

I use netscape with highspeed cable. I just tried the site without being logged on and it seemed ok. But when I logged on to view this forum I had to try several times to pull up this thread to read the replies. Even when not logged on there seems to be quite a delay between when the "document done" shows and when the page actually shows on the screen.

Yep, after HOURS of pouring over the code something I changed made it work on netscape. Not really sure what did it but I found a number of errors (tags that were opened but not closed, tags in the wrong location, etc) in the templates that were there in the original site as well as the new site and after I fixed all of those it fixed the netscape problems. I worked on it for a few hours last night, gave up, and picked it back up this morning. I've been browsing the forums using netscape for the last couple of hours catching up on all the threads I missed while working on the update and haven't had a screen fail to load yet.

I too am experiencing slow page loads, using IE5 and an XDSL connection. Seems to be intermittant, but often enough  .

Most likely it's a problem on the internet backbone somewhere. You can check this by doing a trace route. Assuming that you are running windows bring up a command window (or ms-dos prompt). Then at the C prompt type "tracert www.turbodieselregister.com" if there are problems along the way you'll get asterisks where it's timing out. capitalinternet is our hosting facility and 216. 235. 147. 117 is our server. If the slow down is before that it's out of our hands. There seems to be more and more problems on the backbone in the last few months. Right now 2-3 times a week I have intermittent slow downs to the site and it's almost always in the chicago area for me. Earlier this week there were problems right in the Atlanta area (where the servers are located).
