The last couple of weeks my truck has done something wierd a couple of times. Not every morning but 3 seperate times. I usually leave for work about 5:00 am, and its been cold, around 40 dg. I get in, turn the key untill the wait to start light goes out, and then attempt to engage the starter. When I turn the key all the way over I get nothing, then I turn it back for a few seconds and it turns over with plenty of tourqe at the starter and starts. Smells like batteries to me , but they are only a couple of years old. Any one have this problem before ??:mad: :( :(

Probably your solenoid on the starter. I had the same problem with my 95. You can rebuild it fairly cheap. Try Diesel Electric Service in Arizona or any good starter shop for the parts.

It's probably the solenoid contacts... .

Parts to fix cost about $10 for two contacts and about an hour to push/pull the starter and do a rebuild. Easy, cheap, and some may even think it's FUN!! Oo. The parts are very readily available from anyone who rebuilds starters/alternators.

I agree with Oliver88. About 6 Months ago my 96 started to do the same thing. Like you thinking it was the batterys I replaced them. SAME THING:{

Next I took the starter to a shop they said it was OK. I was geting very frustreted.

I then replaced the cables. NO CHANGE :mad: #@%&%$@!#@!$%#

I had another starter guy check it out SURE AS _______. THATS WHAT IT WAS.
