Hey guys, do any or all of you noticed that it takes a while for the voltage to come up? I don't mean voltage flux from the heater grid, just it seems to take until I get into 3rd gear before the alternator kicks in. My truck does this both hot and cold outside temp is 68~70*f.

I think it's programmed not to respond to voltage changes until about 15 MPH. I suspect this is to keep people from calling the dealer to complain that something is wrong the first time they see the volt meter swing and don't know it's because of the grid heaters cycling.

Mine stays at 12. 5 volts (battery voltage) for about 2 to 3 min after start-up. Seems to come up once I get to 1500 rpm. I haven't noticed any fluctation due to the grid heaters like I did in my '01. Maybe its in my head, but I've also noticed much more diesel clatter until the voltage gets to 14v.
