Hi, I'm trying to help a friend with a problem - and I am stuck. Hoping someone here can help... .

His truck is a 2003 Dodge Laramie 2500 4x4 Quad Cab with the Cummins diesel & 6-speed transmission.

Here is what has been done to it before I started getting involved - I haven't done much yet.

"In his words"...

As I'm driving, it will slowly accelerate (although I keep steady pedal pressure) then all of a sudden it will quit accelerating (feels like a carb with a 7000lb return spring, the way it quits so abruptley) I then have no acceleration. It still moves, but seems like some sort of minimum loop mode. Or maybe just lucky that it will not stall at idle rpm's. I can also never tell if I will have power from a stop, as in clearing or crossing an intersection. I have had it in 4 times now. No applicable codes (although I did get charged $600 bucks for a new fan hub, and the fan now runs a lot of the time). Codes have been cleared, pc reflashed, and Thursday they installed a new ECM. But it is still undrivable.

I am about to change the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

PS, The codes I get are:

P 0642

P 0 107

Searching in the archives I don't find much regarding the 0642 code.

Thanks!

Dan

P0642 is related to the fan clutch. Maybe the dealer didn't hook up the harness or ran the truck before clearing codes?

P0107 is related to the inlet air pressure sensor. Again, Maybe the dealer didn't hook up the harness or ran the truck before clearing codes?

After he cleared the codes is he still having them return?

Did you try checking the obvious fuel filter? Or maybe the lift pump is going out?
