Got a 94 12 valve here. Did a #8 plate cold air and exhaust. Moved the plate and housing foward and it just dont seem right. My 89 has more go. I adjusted the star wheel also. It smoke a little before boost but thats it. Ny other tricks I can do?

Check the manifold to AFC boost line. When the dealer fixed my '98 12V (intake heaters failed), they said it was all fixed. When I picked it up, it had changed to a '0-60 in the same day' truck. Turns out the boost line had melted on the manifold, cutting off pressure to the AFC, which then wouldn't let much to the engine. Also re-check the AFC itself.

are you sure you moved it forward and not back? needs to go towards front of engine, not forward to the cab. just checking as i suppose it could happen.

The #8 plate is kind of weak for a '94. Should be a #5 or #6. If your AFC is hooked up the same as my '95 then the hose to it is from a fitting on the intake manifold just a little bit in front of the AFC. It would be pretty easy to just forget to hook the hose up after you replaced the plate.

Also if you look on the back of your AFC there will be a 10 mm nut. If you just crack that loose with a wrench, and then adjust the bolt (rotate towards the engine for more power, like everything else on the AFC) with a 3mm allen wrench it will actually move the AFC arm itself. You will smoke a lot but if you adjust it just right you will see a definite improvement. Mine is so far forward it is practically eliminated

Not yet with the timming. I will try to advance the timming tomorow and the low end fueling. Thanks for the input guys.
