Smacked a chubby mirror with mine!

Typical excuses on my end are; work is making changes, interviews this week, side work piling up, basic stress!



But why the heck was this moron with is mirrors extended parked on a crouded street + 2 feet from curb! He was asking for it! And I got him good!



Me. I have a cracked mirror (not the fish eye part) and the very front plastic part is 1/3 missing. Other wise fine. . mirror moves, I'm sure the heater deal is working as well. The wires inside got smushed and a little bit of the wire was exposed, but I promptly applied lots of electrical tape.



Problem. Snow tonight, lots. So I have a small garbage bag over the mirror right now.



The dealer is asking about $75 for the entire glass part (even the non attached, non moving fish eye deal).



And $362 for the entire package, with glass



Deal?



He quoted me $150 for a trailer tow mirror but with out my vin the first time around, he couldn't be sure... Now if he has a mirror for a 2ng gen at this price, could I take parts from that and put it on mine, or did they change just enough?



Are there Other places to get just the few parts I need in hte minneapolis area? I know these mirrors were on some 2nd gen years. So they gota have plenty of parts around by now.

ebay has them $200 for manual.



looks like the years for the mirror cover 02-06. curious as to what the dealership will charge for one mirror.



power is like $250 range on ebay.





update:



After looking at the broken mirror very closly. snow isn't going to harm it... . The plastic peice is screwed on.



Going to call some junk yards to look for mirror parts locally to advoid ebay.



But if I can't, I'll buy a set of manual heated mirrors for $200 off ebay (I may have to get power tho) and re-ebay the other and maybe the rest of the parts of the other one. worst case.

i had the same thign happen to me a couple months ago... no damage done oto my mirror, and honestly as i looked in my RVM and saw how far away from the curb with his morror out i didnt stop. yeah, im an arsehole i know, but when i park on a street i illeglay park all the way up against the curb AND fold my MirrorS in. yeah, both of them. no excuses then.

And maybe one of the guys you guys hit was just running inside somewhere to find a phone 'cause his pregnant wife was paging him, and the other guy had diarrhea. If inconsiderate people **** you off, that's all the more reason not to be one. Just do me a favor guys and don't brag about hit and runs - it makes it difficult for me to want to help and associate myself with this group.



Alright - the duct tape covering my mouth didn't work, so I am going to try Mach 5 tape. That should shut me up.

I have a similar problem with my passenger side mirror. City bus drifted over too far in his lane and we smacked mirrors. I think he got the worst of it ironically. I have three cracks in the flat larger mirror. His was bent and fractured pretty well.
