I have a 2005 and am planning on using my Google Nexus (android) with the Torque Pro program:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=torque+pro

and a blue tooth scan tool from the OBDII port off ebay:
ELM327 v1. 5 Bluetooth Mini Small Interface OBD2

Any one done this on a 2005. I'm guessing the 05 is BDII compliant? It shoud read and clear codes and probably some of the gauge stuff. Probably all for under 25bucks

Thanks

I use my DroidX2 with the Torque app and a PLX Bluetooth OBD transmitter. I've read that some of the cheaper Bluetooth adapters don't work well. Mine works fine, but it's more for dash bling. I like the fact I have memory on the displayed gauges but to really see the data while driving, you can only use two gauges at a time. The memory function on the torque app only works for display gauges, so a little limiting. It's nice to see what the ecm rail pressure is compared to my analog gauge. Plus, you can check a lot of different things. I think I have $100 in it and it is worth it, but not something I use all the time. If I really want data I plug up the EFILive data logger and get all kinda of things. And it will record it.

I'm interested in it mainly because the 5buck software will work on the phone and may also work on my wife's 02 Nissan, but maybe not. The setup is getting rave reviews in the Google Market (Play store). There are evidently some cheaper Bluetooth readers but the BAFX seems to be the one to get.
I looked at the Edge system. My phone screen is actually bigger! Plus either of there displays for the 05 run from 350-450 so I think I'll try it out. I think all the same PID's are available from the OBDII. Who knows, maybe I'll like it and up grade to something else.

Guess I'll be getting back to you all!!

I just installed it on my 04. 5... . still trying to get transmission temp, oil temp, rail presure to work... . It seems dodge has locked us out of easily getting the correct source code to run the gauges. I havnt had time to see what PID's that need down loaded. So far its a neat toy but until i can get at least the transmission temp to work ... its a $30 toy!!P

It may come in handy at times, but IMO self installed mechanical gauges gives the best real temps and the ability to monitor things better.

Separate analog gauge are the best way to go, but it is nice to see what the ecm sees sometimes. And a few gauges are nice to have duplicates (rail pressure, - egt (even though that isn't a phone option). The memory is nice also. The only thing I don't like is that my bluetooth OBD adapter has a cord and transmitter that I have hide rather that one plug up unit. No biggy though.

I just got my Torque to do transmission temp for my early 04. I have a Samsung Galaxy II Phone. I downloaded the free plugin for "Torque Scan" from the Android store. Open Torque, from the first page hit the PHONES menu button, open settings, scroll down to "Manage Extra PIDs/Sensors", Hit phones menu button again and select "Add predefined set". Select "other". The only item there is "Transmission Temp Method 3". This gave me the transmission temp under the Torque Scan icon. Haven't tried to make it a gauge yet.
