Anyone leave their turn signal on too long? About 2 or 3 minutes...

I did on a long off ramp and the truck knew it and chimed me. So I decided to play with it and left it on again... sure nuff, 'bout 2-3 minutes & it chimed again, plus continued till I turned it off.

At nite, if I leave on the head lites until after I turn off the ignition, they stay lit even after I turn off the light switch. If I leave the light switch on, they still go off on their own, but will be on the next time I start the truck. I like drivin' with the lights on even in the daytime so this is  I don't kill the batteries from leaving the lights on.

Everyonce & a while I find something like this... What have you found??

The wife & I took a 10 day trip in our 5'er. Just to the mountains and parked. Did lots of fly fishing, biggest one a 14" brown. teaching her how to fly fish too.

Let's see -- truck comments... . Well one the way up nothing passed us!! 60-65 up a canyon road and passing lanes... .

If I get up to overdrive before I get to a hill it doesn't downshift even pedal to the metal.

Coming I decided to race a gravel truck and trailer. . . he was empty & I was pulling about 15+K. Most was down hill, but there were up hills on the two lane road. I also purposely left things on the 5'er tables & counters... Hit a couple of cattle guards and slow to 25 mph turns at 30 & 35.....

Once out of the canyon & on the freeway I accelerated around him out of the on ramp. he leveled off at 70 and I leveled off at 75.

We love this truck... Wife commented, "This truck barely notices this monster behind it!"

Checked the 5'er and only two things moved, a half full plastic water bottle and a large hand lotion bottle. Candles, TV/VCR/DVD/Surround Sound Remotes, stone coasters, books, etc. didn't move. Both the wife & I never we would have such a great truck let alone this big a trailer. They are great and the Cummins was meant to pull heavy and heavier.

Most fantastic things we ever owned..... Can't wait for the wife to stop baby tending grandchildren so we can really hit the road.

Speaking of turn signals, if you watch the reflection of your light in the tailgate of the person in front of you, you'll notice the blink rate of the bulb is not the same frequency as the "tick tick" noise in the cab.

I noticed it once and ever since I'm mesmerized by it.

I hadn't noticed. . . too busy being in the front of the line :D :D where Cummins belong :D :D

Seems this truck has brought out the latent hot rodder in me. As a teen (the 60's) I had an original 1930 Willys-Knight, couldn't even race a turtle, but sure drew the chicks:cool:  Coupe with a rumble seat.

I also noticed that if you installed a mopar key-less entry from the dealer, when you open the drivers door, all the doors automatically unlock. It happens to mine and to another guys truck at work. We then went to another truck on the lot that had key-less entry from the factory and it did not do it. dunno. .

Oh ya, that was another I forgot getting too much grey hair...

If I press the keyless remote entry button to unlock the truck once it will only unlock the drivers door. press it twice and it will unlock the passenger doors (now I can't remember if it is all or just the front passenger door?).

Troll, this is programable. Check out your owners manual, it will tell you how to program the keyless entry. The wife & I talked about this and we left it alone so if she is driving alone (that's the only time she drives unless I am sick) she will have only one door open. But on the down side, I usually forget to press the key twice so her door is locked... . then I do it twice:eek:

Vietdoc,

Been there, done that. But thanks for the info. I did reprogram mine to open all doors with one press of the button. I also considered the safety issue for my wife. My solution was not to let my wife (or anyone else) drive my truck. (you know for safeties sake). :D

Hmmmmm I like the way you think  :D . My problem is it is our only ride and I have already "let" her drive it alone..... Wonder how I can get the cat back into the bag

A new PT Cruiser would do it :p , but I have to get some cash first... . Oh well live and learn... . that is what is so great about the TDR there is so much to learn and everybody seems to help.

Doc,

The factory install on ours only requires one press to lock all doors. One press to unlock drivers door and two to unlock all doors. The turn signal thing sounds good I hadn't noticed that.

Troll, did you install it?? how hard/how much??

Dmurdock,

The key-less entry kit is only about 100-120 bucks (can't remember exactly) from the dealer, and take about 35 minutes to install. It is a very easy procedure, simply remove the instrument cluster and plug the module in. Its cheaper than getting it from the factory, because you don't have the SKIM security feature, and I am pretty sure that the factory key-less entry only comes with the SKIM security feature . The "SKIM' style key is around 90 bucks to get a new one cut for extras, or in case you lose one, because it has to be programmed with a DRB3, that is why I would not want it. Also, if you plan on getting a remote starter you will have to have a spare SKIM key taped to the steering column to disable the security feature of the factory system disabling the security feature you paid for. The factory system is not worth the hassle or expense to me.

Kbarlow

That is the way it comes from the factory, however if you want to only have to press the key once to unlock all the doors, check your owners manual for the reprogramming procedure. It still locks all the doors with one press of the key.

Doc, your right I tried the turn signal thing today and it works. cool!

I installed the key-less entry too and it ends up costing about the same as from the factory. $100 for the kit and about $35 to have the dealer use his DRB scan tool to "tell" your computer the new key-less entry is present.
