Rough idle diagnostic help

2005 pac brake install Question

I have a 05 Dodge and it came with this tuner when I bought it. I recently started changing tune levels and noticed I really don’t feel any difference in the tune levels? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

What levels are you changing from and to?

How long is the programming taking?

I had similar issue with my early 04, the s06 did nothing for it. no matter the tune it never gave more power. flashes took 3-4 minutes.
I have no other help.

Correction on the time for changing tunes. It is 4-5 minutes. Guess I was distracted. I moved it tune setting 4. Torque is on 3. No other adjustments. Gonna see what happens. If no difference I’ll contact smarty and see if they can assist.

If you want to run the 90hp tune I would load SW5. The even software doesn’t have timing and you want timing, it’s the main benefit to a smarty.

SW5, Timing 3, Torque 2, rail pressure 2, WG off is where I would try.

What do you have for supporting mods? What trans?

Stock transmission. Nothing wrong with it yet.
Exergy 50hp injectors. Cold air intake. 5inch turbo back exhaust. Edge monitor. Steed speed exhaust manifold.
I take care of it. I don’t have a heavy foot. Only time I get into it is to pass someone. That’s rare.
I did notice when I installed the CTS 3 monitor that my throttle was extremely touchy and it would run like a scolded dog. Then it just went away? I do have the tuner POD set at 99. The POD hasn’t made a difference either.

With 50hp sticks and a stock trans I wouldn’t set the Smarty any higher than SW3, and SW1 is probably the best bet.

Try setting PoD at 50 and see if there is a difference.

For every day driving try PoD at 90.

Have you verified the CTS3 isn’t lowering the PoD on you?

I agree about the settings but I’m not seeing any kinda hp increase difference from setting 1 to 9. Just nothing. All settings are the same.
Far as CTS lowing the POD it stays at 99 on the monitor as well as the tuner.

Try programming it back to stock, verify that the S06 indicates VIN unlocked.

Then program it again, even for testing I would go no higher than SW5. Torque should be set to stock above SW3 with a stock trans.

Have you tried disconnecting the CTS3? Seems odd, but you said it worked fine before you had it, right?

I’m going to contact Mads Electronics after New year’s and see what they say.

You haven't mentioned if you see the "#" symbol on each side of the upper text on the display when you perform the step below. If you do not see those symbols, the Smarty S06 is not VIN locked to your vehicle and the ECM will remain at stock performance. A this point there will be no point in selecting the parameters for a tune, as there is no communication.

Also, from the Smarty S06 instruction manual:

How do I check for vin lock?
What are the steps?

Check my previous post. I was having trouble uploading photos while you were replying. After switching on the ignition and plugging in the Smarty to the OBDII port, the first thing displayed is the Version Number with the "#" symbol visible on both sides, IF the Smarty S06 is VIN locked.
