Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Smarty and better MPG ?

I have been reading the smarty related posts

and see that the smarty has economy settings for better MPG. I was wondering if anyone knew how much better? I get about 1. 5 mpg better with my EZ switched on. Is the smarty economy setting better than that?

I just completed a 1600 mile trip that I do each year and was on the smarty fuel saver, program 1, and I did not dedect any milieage difference. I did the return trip on program 7 and I saw an incresease of 1 mpg. So I was disapointed in my mileage increase. I wonder if the 3 or 5 program will be better than the 7?
