Transmission Oil On Solenoid Plug

I've had a Smarty sr almost as long as I've had my 06, I've used it primarily for more mpg and towing power, I'm always on level 1. A few years ago, I had a set of F1 40 injectors installed and recently I read the Smarty settings paper (ya, I know, lol) and it said with aftermarket injectors that I should bump up the injection timing to level 3 advanced and level 2 for rail pressure. Do you think I could get some more mpg by doing that? Any suggestions? I have a Banks intake, GDP intake elbow and Silent Might flow thru muffler.

Sell it and get EFI for a cleaner, smoother engine performance.
Selling your Smarty will pay for 2/3 of the EFI cost. Instant setting change without reprogramming.

I may be the only EFI user who was not impressed with it. I went from a Smarty Jr to EFI on my 2010 5.9 and did not see any noticeable differences...other than WOT HP gains with the more aggressive EFI tunes. As for the "cleaner, smoother engine performance", I did not see it. To me, my Jr gave me better performance through out the power band, instead of just at WOT. According to my calculations (I kept pretty good records of fuel/MPG) I actually lost MPG went I went to EFI. I was going to go back to a Smarty, but ended up trading for my 2017. Just my 2 cents worth.

So far, used the recommended setting for aftermarket inj for timing which was 3 and set the rail pressure to default instead of stock and it's only slightly more noisy, the mpg is up a bit as well as power, especially part throttle. However, when I get on it, it really smokes, lol. Fyi, this is on level 1.

Tuners & Tuning is alot like Ice Cream...There are many different flavors and many different makers, you have to decide whats best for you and enjoy it.

I am guessing by saying you have a Smarty Sr you are referring to the S06.With a small injector increase I am not sure all the added timing is best for towing.I NEVER run added timing with a Smarty S06 and always allow the ECM to determine whats best.Timing is a evil that can help you but also hurt you if your not sure what your doing. Can you get out of the S06 what you want to suit your needs of your truck, absolutely. However,I would recommend a day strapped to a dyno to see what suits your needs the best.EFI LIve is an option for the 06 and up Owners but I am in agreement with an above statement that it is not the end all be all tuner and My experiences with Both On My 2005 Twin Charger truck(I have a custom harness built to run EFI on My 05 or run the Smarty) back up what I have learned....Your truck your choice, start slow and listen to the motor,it will tell you what it wants or doesn't want.

Pressure on 2 is fine for a little extra bump in the early part of the ramp. Even timing 3 won't take it beyond max factory max during driving. Pressure spike son fast throttle movement is another story. If the rail PRV is getting too hot to tough back the pressure down.

A 40 or 50 HP injector doesn't qualify needing to adjust timing. Run in it on 2 for economy and 3 if you are going to drop 15k behind it for any length of time. A good combination for power and economy is SW5, Timing 2, Pressure 2, TQ3, WG controller Off. Note the fun factor merging onto freeways is the only down side. Stock auto or stock clutch will NOT like it for long, but, if you can control the right foot it can make a significant difference in economy.

The only time you really need to worry about backing timing off of the most advanced setting is under heavy loads for a significant time and\or running the 100+ HP injector group. Otherwise, the most advanced timing just gets the engine back into the efficiency range from the over compensated emissions timing retardation.
