I have found without the Smarty my overhead reads higher than hand calculated by 1 to 2 MPG. However, I have a Transfer Flow auxiliary tank and have found when I use more than what would be normal for a OEM tank the MPG really gets weird. Who knows with the added fuel capacity how the overhead will react with the Smarty. I guess bottom line the overhead is wrong most of the time so hand calculated is the only true reading Smarty no matter and the overhead is an estimate at best.
