BD Issue

Seems that my Smarty will not load the revo software and the high idle and three cylinder idle does not work. I previously had the revo software loaded up and changed it back to a one of the catcher settings being that I was in CO and on snow covered roads and less power was better. While in CO the first morning there it was around 5 degrees, the truck sat for well over 14 hours with no three cylinder idle or high idle in the am. Every morning after that there was none of these idle features. Once back home I attempted to load the same revo settings I had before with no luck.

When I load a catcher setting I can see the progression bar showing the software is loading as well as the flashing wait to start light. If I choose to use the revo settings I can walk through everything I want to change and after I have what I want I get no progression bar or flashing wait to start light, instead it goes back to the menu. I can tell that the catcher settings are taking affect by the way the truck acts and the amount of smoke that comes out of it.

I have tried a few times to use the revo software and the same thing always happens, I can walk through every catcher setting and they seem to all work just no revo changes. Any hints or suggestions?

Thanks

Scott

man that is an odd one scott. I would try updating your smarty software. I would also check your obd2 port too.

Happy to help

Bob,

I will try updating and see what happens first. I know the high idle was working before I lowered the power settings. Last year in CO it did go to high idle a couple of mornings and once here at home. Not sure if it's related or not but, I have been getting the code for the M. A. P ( boost pressure ) sensor " voltage too low " several times. That usualy happens after I change the catcher settings. Plan on pulling it out and cleaning it to see if it helps. Maybe the update will help with it also.

Thanks again

Scott

Got the update done, finally. Still can't use the revo software, it's in the Smarty I can change the numbers but still no progression bar or flashing wait to start light. I can use every catcher number I want just not the revo. Guess I should have left the dang thing alone and not made any changes.

An update as of 5-27. Now the truck is cutting out and tossing the PO602 code ( fueling calibration I believe ) WITHOUT the CEL indication. Tonight on the way home it felt like someone was pushing against the truck. Took off from a stop sign got to 2nd gear at 2500 rpm's and it was acting like it's starving for fuel, did it through every gear. Got home checked for codes and the PO602 was there. With all this going on I sure as hell hope this won't lead to a new VP44, APPS or an ECM if it does I will NOT be a happy camper.

I have done all the updates I can from the website.

Before I limp my way to a dealers machine does anyone know if codes can be present and not be picked up by the Smarty? Right now its cutting out as it was last night and there are no codes present at all. Without knowing which direction to go I am at a loss as to how to fix this thing.

2Rowdy,

Yes sir I have. I even went back to the stock software. Checked for a code before that and after I made it home, nothing was present. As I said am at a loss here without something to go by. It's too hot right now to try cleaning the MAP sensor even though its practicaly new. Fuel pressure is good and stays good when the truck stumbles. I can try changing the filter to see if it helps but I think this is something more. It's not cutting out to the point where it's dying and so far it's not doing it at idle. Just stumbles or hesitates is more the term around 1800-2100 rpm's.

Scott this may not help but it's free. Every couple of years I'll get a miss every so often and what eliminates it is to remove and replace the vp connection and other sensors and clean the battery posts. Some of these 5v controls need the best electrical connections possible. Good luck:)

Took the truck out Friday and released some frustration on it. I rode this thing hard until it finally puked a code to give me a some idea of what is going on. This time I got the code for the darned APPS or TPS which ever you want to call it. Surprised I did not tear something up as hard as I was running it. Unfortunately there was no waiting for a cheaper fix and I had to go with the expensive fix. O'reilly's had one with a lifetime warranty, guess I will see how good that is in time.

After completing another update to my Smarty I still can not use the Revo settings. The Catcher settings work or seem to, it's just the Revo that will not load up.

In reference to your download of the software from your computer via USB to your Smarty. Have you tried another port on your computer? The ports on your computer are they directly on your computer or on a daisy chain UPS cable. Using a daisy chain to hook several things to your computer at the same time will reduce the voltage to your Smarty box. Could cause bad data.

Cumminz,

I connect it directly to my laptop. I have no idea what happened everything was fine until I changed the settings this February.
