got my smarty(smokey) friday nite all i can say is wow... 6th gear clutch slips @ 70 mph. a new clutch should come with the smarty, all in all i'm very happy with smarty its worth the money. now i need recomendations what clutch ? double disc, con fer, what is the best i only want to do this one time#@$%!

After talking with Pete at SBC I'm going with the milder version(not comp. model) of the dual disk.

The DD is almost double $, but I'm like you, I only want to do it once.

He said "Very low noise and not grabby with no special modifications. "

One of hardest things our clutches have to do is hold the torque of our modded engs. at 60-70 MPH with WOT.

I've seen here on TDR, one of vendors is offering free shipping for Dec. -07. (Save $75?)

I've bought my trans. jack and will do my inst. when I get back to Wi. in May, till then 'no Smarty=no slip'.

Call Pete @ SBC, he's great to talk to.

Good luck, Ray

DD all the way. I went from a Con-fe straight to a DD. I have never been happier. The Con FE was very grabby. This double disk is not noisy and hold great. Peter will stear you right on the one yo0u need.

you realy need a dual disk

if you only want to do this once you should realy go with the dual disk. I to have been right were your at and with only 60,000 miles on my truck I've finally wised up and put in a dual disk The iron giant I think is what south bend calls it and its the only one of the 5 clutchs in 60,000 miles that will hold. I've heard the saying your going to wear the bolt holes out in that thing before and I can see that happening trying to get by with somthing that just wont do the job. a dual disk is more money but think of all the time and money you will save by not buying another clutch in a year and not spending the time in the shop under your truck.

Just my thoughts
