Took a trip this weekend from Tucson to Sedona. 426 miles from Flying J and back to the same station. Loaded the Fuel Saver program. A little sluggish up the long 6% grades but a nice easy relaxing drive there and back, 65-70 most of the time plus a day of driving around town. I've never gotten more than 15-15 1/2 between here and Phoenix witch is farely flat. Ended up with 17 1/2 but must say I put it on #8 and the comp on after the fill up for the last miles to home. Puts the smile back on the face but I probably lost my savings on fuel after that.

By the way this was running empty with no load or trailer.

Would you give me some details on the brand and model chip you put in that boosted your mileage. I know there are several and am thinking about putting one in my '98 1/2.

It's the Smarty Programmer. Now that I looked at my sig. I see that I need to change it. Got one of the first units before it was renamed to the Smarty. Will have to change that. The Fuel Saver setting is nice for leisurely driving but I sure do like #8.

I would like to get one. I was waiting until out of warranty and am now by about 2 years so I guess it is time. I assume this has a dial to set the power level. What level were you using to get the 2 mpg gain? I would like to find a good source and check out the price. I don't plan on using the real high settings because my clutch is getting old (8 years, 105,000 miles) and I want it to last a while. I have read in the past that pushing it to too high a number will fry a stock clutch pretty fast.

I also need a good supplier to get a booster lift pump to put at the back and some gauges. If you can't publish names here, please send me a private message. I am in Dallas, Tx. but figure I will be ordering over the phone or internet.

Lucky you! I've tried it three different times under controlled experiments and never got any improvement... ... ... ... .

I wouldn't consider myself too lucky. After reading all the posts on here of people getting 22-25 mpg I still feel left out, or my math skills are really bad.

My last three tanks, were all over 17 mpg. I am going to say 90% around town and using SW5 with the TST on 5 with a little hot rodding (testing :) ) . The last tank was over 19 mpg.

I am not so sure that the fuel saver SW is all that much better.

went from fresno to los osos this past weekend at 65-70 mph tst on 1 with about 700lbs of firewood in the bed and dropped the load and came back empty just under 400miles and calculated it at 20. 3mpg.
