Smarty high-idle for 2004?

Does the Smarty enable high-idle on 2004 Rams? Not 2004. 5 but 2004. I've searched some and but can't wade thru all the hits for 2004. 5

I have had luck with 04's,but I can't say for sure if it is all 04s. What I can promise is if a dealer can do it the smarty will too.

I know if you have the Smarty in the truck, the high idle is enabled. I haven't removed the Smarty yet, to see if it is still enabled when the Smarty is removed.

with engine running and in park, hit the cruise controll button to turn it on. . . then hit set. engine should jump to 1000rpm. then you can use the accell button to increase RPM's by 100rpm up to 1500. the decell will do the same, only lower RPM's.





Edit: if the RPM's dont jump to 1000rpm when you hit set, you dont have it enabled.

Or you have your foot on the brake pedal.



You can cancel the high idle with the brake pedal, the on/off or cancel buttons, or by taking it out of park or neutral.



It will work in park or neutral as long as the truck is not moving.

I have the newest Smarty programming and the high idle trick doesn't work on my 6-spd. Oh well... back to the yard stick on the pedal!

I guess I left that part out in my sig, etc. I have a 6-speed. So to restate the answers: 2004 with a 6-speed transmission = no high-idle activation available via Smarty.

there is a pin on the ecm that needs to be grounded for high idle to work. . pin 20 or 22. . there have been threads on this. i haven't gotten a pin jumper cable to try this yet

pin 22 ECM plug B. ground that out and you will have the high idle. I dont have it, but it is something I will probably do when I put my bypass filter in.
