I have tried SW#5 twice and both times it makes the truck very loud and rattly and feels like it has lost power. The rattle sounds extremely loud and sounds about like an early generation PSD before they went to split-shot injectors(95-97) when you come down on the throttle. Level 4 runs fine along with all the other levels. Is this normal?

I also noticed in the morning when the truck is cold it sounds like I have a slight timing knock when coming down on the throttle. Once the truck is warmed up it is gone. Again, only with the Smarty installed. It does it with or without timing added on levels 6,7,8 and 9

I posted the issue with SW#5 in 2 different threads, but it seems to have been overlooked. Has anyone else had this problem?

Strange...

I've been running on level 5 with zero issues since the #2 version was released.

I do notice some timing rattle at very light throttle settings, but I don't worry about it too much. It's not loud enough to concern me, in fact most of the time I have the TST adjustable timing set to 3°.

Perhaps it has something to do with your injectors. It seems like the people complaining of timing rattle also have bigger injectors. Mine are still stock.

I was thinking the same thing about the injectors, but the smarty is flawless on the other levels. I see he also has anther update, which is #3 and I have update #2, I just haven't had a chance to try it. It actually stumbles when you give it fuel like it is way too much fuel or something. I have another TDR member that is going to stop by tonight to take a listen to it also

problem gone. :D I downloaded the newest software version on the site. As mentioned above I previously had update #2, this would make update #3. Apparently something must have gone wrong when I downloaded the other update. I will roadtest later today and see how it performs on the highway.

Well, problem is back. I tried running it up the highway and it was crazy. Anything more than 1/3 throttle and the truck would buck and knock like it was holding injectors open. It also had smoke rolling out bad. Something is way off on this tune with my truck. Where's Marco???? He's been replying to the rest of these threads.

I saw you posted on the other thread I started.

Have you PM'd Marco. He's been working with a few of via e-mails and PM's sending us different custom programs to try that aren't available on the Mads website trying to get the timing/rattle worked out. Sounds like it's mainly the guys running injectors. Except for I will say this. With my EZ now plugged back in and set on level 2, the rattling I've experienced in the past is gone. I still can't touch my TSt at all though. Which is what Marco is working on.

I'll paste my reply from a different thread. No problems with bigger injectors on my truck.

Here's my Smarty experience. 2005 with G56 manual, 90hp DDP honed injectors, TST, stock turbo, stock clutch, 5" dual exhaust, cold air intake and K&N, no Rokktec sendor. I use a ball&spring manual boost controller and set the stock turbo to 42psi. I dynoed 421whp 768wtq with the 90hp inj and TST on 3x1 (no Smarty at that time). Since then I put the Smarty (with the old smokey software) on #3 and TST on 1x1. It runs great, no rattle, smokes when first going but cleans up real nice under boost, about the same power as TST on 3x1 w/o Smarty.

I now have it set to Smarty #5 (90hp w/timing), TST on 1x1. It runs very strong, only rattles a slight bit around 2000rpm, pulls good up to 3400rpm, only smokes at low boost, cleans up well at 40psi. It's easily stronger than when I dynoed 421whp on just TST 3x1 and 90hp injectors. I'll hit a dyno this month sometime.

I haven't tried the Smarty any higher than 90hp w/timing or the TST higher than 1x1 because I don't want to slip the stock clutch. It's still holding fine for now. I have 22,000 miles on the truck.

The lastest Smarty S-04A Ver. 3. 06B, Data: 3. 02B is the best for me so far. This version certainly does not fuel as hard down low as the original, but the overall power is smooth and throttle is not touchy anymore. I have been running SW #5(timing added) and TST w/05TT with timing set to 3* Auto on 3/0 and EZ on level 1 for a few days now. Smoke is manageable and the power is definitely there. This combo on my truck pulls strong all the way to about 90, that is as much room as I have had so far, with no popping or excessive rattle. I hope to get back on the track Sunday for a little more testing. I believe this combo is as strong as the previous one that was 13. 0x and 12. 9x. Add a little more pressure with the EZ and maybe be able to up the TST to 4/0 and be back in the high 12s consistently.
