Anyone running the combination of Smarty Jr & DDP 50's? Like to get some feedback on the power & mileage (if possible on all three settings), any problems w/ rough idle and or rattling, ticking going down the road. I was thinking of the DDP 90hp and ditching the Smarty Jr, but I am keeping my stock turbo. So, I figure it might get too hot w/ or w/o the Smarty Jr and DDP 90hp...

If you are keeping the stock turbo, save the dollars or get a Smarty senior. The stock injectors are good for 600 hp and about the best trade off for efficiency there is. The bigger injectors seem to end up using more fuel and really don't provide much over a stocker unless you are gonna push them.

About the only ones I have heard that help both power and mileage are a 25 HP EDM setup.

Of course if ya wanna spend the bucks its your choice. :D

I'm running 80hp KAX injectors and LOVE them. When I first got them, it was a night and day difference between stock.

Power went up drastically and economy stayed the same or improved slightly.

I then got the Smarty Sr. and run it on Level 1 and had even more power and lower EGTs by approx 100 to 150F (1150F max is the most I have seen with the Smarty even when towing) Economy has slightly improved by approx 0. 5mpg

No smoke what so ever. No issues with rough idle, ticking, etc.

I can go up any grade here in NW Oregon w/the 5er without having my foot buried to the floor.

When I unhook the 5er and drive the truck bobtail, I have a grin from ear to ear when pulling any kind of grade. The torque is just unbelievable.

I went with the Smarty Sr because I wasn't sure if the Jr would work with the aftermarket injectors, but I was being too conservative. I know someone that runs the Jr with 120hp KAX injectors and LOVES his truck.

I think 80 to 90hp injectors is the max you can run with the stock turbo because my friend with the 120hp injectors was above 1350F with his EGTs but the Jr dropped him back into the safe zone, he saw approx 200F reduction with the Jr on Tow setting.

What are KAX Injectors. Or I should say who does the tips on those?

50s shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm running 125s with my JR an its at the reasonable limits. if I roll on the throttle easy I don't get any smoke but to much to quick and it black out . the main reason I'm running the jr at all is for the EGTs. If I still had my boost fooler I proble wouldn't run the jr much right now. The main reason for that is I'm suffering from STS(stock transmission syndrome) and I need it to last alittle bit longer. And I know 125s are a bit more than I should have gone but lets face it if your going to spend the money you might aswell get what you want and be done with it. I'll have a smarty SR soon so I can dial in the setup a little better.

I'm running DDP 83hp injectors with full Smarty on level 3. Not using any of the special REVO features. Empty is 18. 3mpg. I did the injectors before the Smarty was available for the 06'+. At 4k miles total on the truck the idle smoothed out and mileage went up . 5mpg. I did the Smarty at or about 20k miles.

Are the DDP 83hp for your 2006 or another truck? I only saw 50hp and 90hp for the 2004. 5 and up for what I was looking at. Does DDP have other HP tips not advertised? I talked to them the other day and they did not mentioned anything between the 50 & 90 tips.

I also wanted to go mechanical only for power now. So I am ditching the Smarty Jr. and getting the injectors and boost fooler w/ the stock turbo until I jump up in turbo (HTT 62/12). Not looking for a dyno queen or racing down the track. Just need a little kick in the butt in power w/o using tuner/programmer. I also talked to one of Don M dist. about the Flux injectors. For what I wanting to do. He recommended I could go up to the Flux 1. 5's or 1. 8's w/o mileage & running hot issues.

im guessing he dyno'd before/after and thats the diferance he saw. its not uncomon to have people see 75-85 hp out of a 50 hp stick if there old ones were carboned up.

as far as fuel milage..... welll... . heres a poor cell phone shot of my gps as i was hand calculating the last tank... ... i musta been driving good... . got about 50 miles more than average out of it... .

Well, that's good to know. I have an appointment up at J&H Performance in two weeks for my DDP 50's, Glacier MK-2 Fuel System to go w/ my Raptor 100 and a boost fooler to keep things in check w/ my stock turbo. :D

fyi, it took right at 35 gal to fill the tank... i shulda kept running it a while and got into the 800 club, but i get nervous about getting that low...
