Well after lots thinking(see the smoke and not from my ride)/advice from members(Bob Wagner and others/posts)i decided to purchase Mach 4's when i ordered my Smarty. Today was the first chance i had to get them installed, after a 20 mile run home i can say that these run very well/smooth. With the smarty on #7,no smoke or very very little when rolling into the peddle, mash it and i get a good puff but the B1-2 cleans it up real well once spooled. The hottest temps i ran running up to about 85 MPH was 1200pre shifting gears(35-40 lbs of boost)--cruising at 70MPH --they were about 750. Sorry i don't have anymore info right now,but shifting, driving, and trying to read my guages/eyes on the road at the same time in building traffic with all that power was a bit difficult for now--more to come later. Power seems like i added another Edge EZ to my ride compared to the old Mach 1. 5's,they idle at 300pre. Just want to say Thankyou to Bob/Marco/Don M(F1) and other who aided me in my many Questions/Fencesitting etc. Later---DW :D :D :D

Yes Gary,i agree 100%,definetly will have to relearn how to drive with this much power/end of the road approaching very fast, but this combo looks promising. And Hohn, thanks for your great post on the TDR/DTR,i followed your posts and remarks for quite some time,Bob Wagner customer service is nothing but the best---if this combo(recommended by him)does not work or meet my satisfaction he would take back the Mach 4 from me and supply me with something smaller :{ or until i'm happy. My goal is to tow with this setup but with the smarty on a lower(est) setting,we'll see. Piers stage 2 ported/oring head,APR studs and cam are in my fiuture to help with the EGT too plus a Cooltwist"intercooler to help as well. Thanks again :D :D :D DW

DWeiler - how much are you planning to tow?

I tow heavy (13k) and have been thinking of upgrading my DD2's to mach 2 / 3 / 4's. I think the 4's have a different design structure than the 2's or 3's. My wife drives the rig some and she does not watch the EGT's like I do.

Turbo is a KSB1-B and was laggy until the Smarty.

With DD2's seldom see over 1000* pre EGT in any road condition. Just would like to get better spoolup sooner and better pulling is steeper road conditions.

Can I chime in with my PERSONAL likings?

First power mod: INJECTORS.

Then tune the power levels ( EGT's ) with Smarty or what ever else box of your choice. No matter what, first of all other power adders : injectors!

Since you are at it, then taller than better! Well within "reasonable" limits...

In addition to that, if them sticks are build by a guy called DonM, then better.

RWEIS,----I'm planning on towing about a 7000lbs traveltrailer, truck weighs 8000 loaded when ready to roll. From what i have read/asked around on the TDR/DTR the Mach 4 are suppost to be cleaner/smoother/run cooler than the old style Mach 3's. The KS version of the B1 is the fastest spooling of the B1 so your quicker than my B1-2 tow. Maybe go with the 2. 4's for a trial-Bob Wagner or other maybe able to help you out,but your turbo has a smaller housing(i think-11/12cm) than mine(14cm-corrct me if i'm WRONG) so i would error on the side of caution---13k is too heavy for the 4's. Some member that have run the DD and moved over to the Mach series seem to like them better(now i don't want to start a injector war here---DD guys i'm sure their great/best stick for you,i'm only stating what i know about the Mach's from Don M ok--no flame/insult intended). Aswell as what "MARCO" said,i prefer more mechanical power first(injectors first)than add a box for that little extra towing grunt or playing/racing. It will be a while before i tow with these stick due to busy schedule/work,probable not till summer. For me i am and not a big fan of the wire tap boxes, just have never felt comfortable using my comp, sure lots of people have had great results/lots of vp life etc,but my luck is not that great so i error on the side of caution, but in the back of my mind i'm always thinking about the dreaded 216 code. For now i want to mess around with the Mach 4's and the Smarty and see how it works out on different setting towing and empty,if not i can always change to something else. --MY opinion/2 cent for what its worth---THANKS DW

Moved from SW #7 to #9,all i can say is um---well,the wife was with me this time--"MAN DOES THIS THING MOVE---NOW SLOW DOWN DEAR YOU'R GOING TOOOOO FAAAAAST---SLOW DOWN NOW,SLOW DOWN NOW AND I MEAN IT" :-{} ----OH YES HONEY-I'M SORRY ;)If i'm really into the peddle/mash i can hit 1400+++-pre,roll into it but at a steady pace and temps are within reason---1200max-pre. I really like 4/5/6 shifts through the gears, throws you back into the seat and takes off like a rocket,i can hardly imagine what a proper built auto(DTT/ATS)would be like cause i can be slow rowing threw the gears but mine still hauls#@% More to come later/test driving. :p :p :p
