ok im running a quad race box right now and have been looking at the smarty... ... should i get the smarty first then get the glacier or fass pump first? im gonna keep the quad box and stack it later. is anyone having problems with the smarty and the original fuel system on the 170 hp setting? both are in the plans but i want to know if i should go with the pump first

the walbro pump i got first, then i got the smarty. however, the smarty got installed first, the walbro pump will get installed someday :rolleyes: [i wish the days were 28 hours long]
 
I'd say fuel pump first... . on the higher levels (and esp with the quad stacked)... you'll run out of fp. I believe smarty on level 5 / 7 is enough to require a gdp/fass.
 
i still have no aftermarket lift pump and made great power although when i set smarty on #9 with my injectors, i dream of more air so i don't have to keep peddling it all the time. whith stock injectors it shouldn't build heat as fast as mine but i also don't see any gauges in your signature. do yourself a favor and do gauges first. i wish i would have.
 
what walbro pump did you use nick? what all came with it? i want to get the smarty first and i know i have the quad race and i run that on the 130hp setting nonstop and want to know what setting i can run the smarty on all the time before i get the pump put on. thats what my real question is cause i want to get the smarty first stack the quad box after the pump and smarty are on.

Nick, i see youre railroad too! i work in the signal dept. for BNSF..... i take it youre a mechanic?

Need fuel system before turning smarty up. You can easily starve the cp3 with any setting at or above 90hp. I can pull less than 2. 5 lbs of fuel pressure easily. Putting clutch it in now too. It was slipping with the smarty on 90hp, next day slipping at 75mph with smarty 60hp.
 
Fuel system for sure... .



I would drop fuel pressure with the Smarty on 3 and EZ on 1... . before the FASS of corse. ;)

the pump i have sitting on the desk is a gsl 392 [same as inc with glacier's gfs-392]. . i have some fittings to allow me to run a -8 jic fitting direct to the pump. but again, not enough time :( i have 90% of the parts i need now to install my home brew kit, but no time. .



yeah, i work in the diesel shop up here in toronto for cn. .
