Looking to try to improve fuel mileage on my 2010. Calculated around town is 16-17 and on the interstate, my last 1200 mile round trip calculated 18. 6.

Edge's FAQs indicate approximately 10% increase in fuel mileage. I haven't seen anything on the Smarty.

What's the best choice. With the cost of fuel right now, either would pay for itself in a year or so.

The truck has plenty of pulling power but the mileage sucks compared to my previous trucks.

I"d go with the Smarty JR. but it's not out yet for the 10's. I loved it on my 04. 5 truck. Smooth reliable safe power... .

waiting waiting waiting anxiously... . in my experience with Mads and Smarty it will be worth it!

Bob, can you give any details of optional settings for stock trucks with all emissions intact versus fully deleted trucks (and anything in between)?

I contacted MADS yesterday and the sent an email stating there would be a JR67 and a JR67 ME. Based on what I read, the ME requires the modified exhaust and the JR67 is for the stock truck. No release date was given.

I would really like to get one. I am leaning heavily toward the Smarty JR.

soon Alan very soon. Good see you still around man.

Just released from the Coast Guard after being on since 9-11. I'm back home now. I appreciate the hello. I sent you a PM. Take care buddy. We'll be doing some bidness before you know it.

Looking for the release of the Smarty JR. Hurry. And get it right.

What is this?
2010 Smarty Junior for 2010 trucks
Also, what is the difference between the Smarty and Smarty Jr?
I see the 3 versus 10 performance levels, lack of extended rev limiter, and the speed limiter. Is that it? Any difference in how they function, adjustable on the fly?

Alan - - You will be real happy with the Smarty Jr. - - That and having Bob Wagner to back it up - - I had a Big Smarty on my '01 - - Grandson now running it - - and the Jr on my '06 - - Just installed a SpynTec kit on the '06 and running 22. 2 mpg on economy setting - - was 17 - 18. 5 mpg - - I'm happy

Thanks, Guys. That's good news, C. D. The best I have been getting is on my trips to Virginia. 1200 miles round trip, two times, empty I'm averaging about 18. 5. I would love to get it up over 20. I was getting 22 with my 05. I love this truck but the smaller fuel tank, cost of fuel and lower mileage takes the fun out.

What is the Spyntec kit?

SpynTec kit is a free wheeling hub conversion - - you don't tell wether you have 4X4 or 2x4 but it is the old way of disconnecting the front axel assy.

Not only better mileage, but using 4 wheel LO with the hubs in free position, makes backing a heavy trailer very easy- - see other posts - - use find on TDR and punch in SpynTec

CD,

The 68rfe does not have any trouble backing a heavy load like the 48re. The free running hubs is a great idea.

I agree. Smarty is the way to go. After more research and discussions with MADS and Bob Wagner, I have made my decision.

Thanks, everyone for the help.

So are you saying the "Smarty Jr. " is now out for the MY 2010 trucks? On the same issue of better fuel economy, I was told one needs to do the DPF delete as well, in order to get the mileage up.

With the JR, it does tire size and it has the three factory settings as well as the ability to do individual timing and torque settings if you don't want to use the three factory settings.

If you stay on the low end of the factory settings, you don't have to delete the DPF for mpg improvements. That's the way I understand it.
