You have probably heard this questions a hundred times already. I'm little confused about what to get first. A set of injectors or the smarty. From reading some of the posts on here the H. O. doesn't like too much timing in the way of enhancements. I am planning on towing a TT or 5'er sometime in it's near future.

Thanks in advance.

That's a good call on the clutch. You will soon need it if you like using the new power. Opinions will vary on what to do first but after using several combinations in the two CTD's I've owned, I'd go with the Smarty first. My HO had no problems with Smarty's timing.

You might get away with one or the other on a stock clutch, but I agree, new clutch first would be good to make sure all your new power gets to the ground. I run an auto, The cather pushes the limits of my stock transmission. I too want injectors, but the transmission will be getting some updates first.

Smarty first, since it has "built in" boost fooling. That way you can put on a boost elbow and run the boost pressure up a bit to keep the egts in check without setting codes or defueling. Without the Smarty you would need some sort of boost fooling device to run the boost up successfully.

And keep some reserve funds on hand for a clutch.

Thanks guys all good advice, which I come to expect from this site. Looks like the smarty will my first purchase. If it gets to be too much for the clutch I guess I can always turn down the power on that. With injectors you wouldn't be able to.

My sig tells my mods. I had 275's first since about 20,000 and still do with the Edg-Comp since aobut 25,000 I also have the Smarty. I have just replaced my stock clutch after 170,177 miles and a good fair amout of towing up to 23,000 lbs.

It is all in how you drive in my opinion. The 275's gave me about 1. 3 mpg gain and a nice little boost. The edge gave me good manuvering power and the smarty does a real nice job with the low end grunt off the line.

I do not use the Smarty during towing nor do I turn on the Edge for towing. The power is nice, but very easy to abuse and also sucks down my wallet for fuel. My mods give me good manuvering power when on the highway and daily driving with occasional fun using the right foot.

I would install the 275's first and see how you like it. Then move to the Smarty. This of course assumes you are running guages as your very first required mod.

Research long and hard, determine your style of driving honestly, pick your mods with an eye to reliability and economey and you will be happy with your choice.

I have all the power I can use, plus some, still runnin my original factory VP-44 with no signs of dying. Just ordered LarryB's contacts for the starter tonight.

Reliability is what you want. Good luck and have fun with your choices. ;)
