Anyone Using Schaeffer 9000 Oil ???

I have an S-06 and am getting ready to download software to it. However, I don't understand what the different softwares really do.

For example, the "aftermarket injectors, stock turbo" software; how does this differ from the stock software?

Also, what do the different "torque management" levels really do?

Which Smarty software is recommended for lower or equal EGTs and hopefully some slight MPG gains?

I was going to load the aftermarket injectors and stock turbo - mild torque management and start at 30hp, but B. Wagners earlier response to my other thread about EGTs running hotter with the aftermarket injector software makes me think maybe I should load the stock injector, stock turbo software.

Can anyone give me pros/cons for the two softwares and also tell me what the "mild torque management" really means?

Will the stock injectors/stock turbo software work fine with the KAX injectors? I guess I don't understand how the aftermarket injectors work and how the Smarty software compensates for the aftermarket injectors.

If I go back to stock software, will I get the annoying park brake seat belt horn recall problem??

Thanks,

Louis

The stock software is what is loaded in the PCM right from the factory. Aftermarket injector smarty software offsets the timing increase caused from aftermarket injectors. Aftermarket Turbo turns off the wastegate control.

The torque management software is the amt of de-fueling that occurs between shifts. Stock is just that stock TM. All the way up to wild which fuels different between shifts. Stock, Mild, Moderate and wild all defuel between shifts differently Also the more aggressive the TM the more touchy the throttle is. Its like learning to drive again...

The stock inj. and stock turbo software should work fine with what you have. for best milage increase, Probably a level 1 stock or mild TM will work good, if you can keep your foot out of it!!

As far as the park brake thing, I don't really think smarty can do anything about that, I might be mistaken though.

Hope that answers your questions

Dean/Bob, thank you for the explanations. :)

I don't want to get flamed, but:

I loaded "aftermarket injectors-stock turbo-mild torque increase" LEVEL 1 (30hp) because I have KAX 80hp injectors and just got back from a 20 mile test drive.

The engine sounded like my 2001 (louder injection noises) and actually felt less powerful than stock or the same. I drove on the freeway, 55 to 80mph. I drove on the city streets, 30 to 50mph. I punched it and got LOTS of smoke. Driving down the freeway at 55mph, the injectors were very noisy. EGTs seemed similar or maybe slightly higher. I'm not impressed with this software.

I downloading the stock software right now (mild torque increase) and will try it out. Probably post back tomorrow because its getting late. Takes 37 minutes to downloaded each new version to the Smarty.

Thanks,

Louis

the aftermarket injector software has less timing which will run hotter than the stock injector software.

Dont be afraid of the rattle, remember its a diesel.

dont worry be happy

Kax injectors should NOT be considered a major injector upgrade. Do you have a before and after dyno sheet? And try running the stock injecor/aftermarket turbo software too. Kevin should of told you all this

I just got back from another test drive with the stock std software (mild torque increase) on LEVEL 1.

It ran much smoother and better, but I'm not sure if I felt any power increase. I did notice the EGTs seemed lower than stock, especially with my foot into it. I could not get it to go above 850deg F.

Driving down the freeway at 55mph (approx 1500rpm) and then smoothly flooring it, the truck felt sluggish initially for a split second and almost sounded like it wanted to "barf", kinda like an over-jetted or over carburated muscle car, but once it got thru that initial "lag", it took off. It didn't do that stock, it just took off.

I think I will try LEVEL 3, next.

Once the stock turbo gets past all the fuel that is being dumped on it, it will take off. That is when boost is built high enough and the truck really connects.

Usually the higher the software level, the more smoke you will have

OK... Trying not to rock the boat here, Why was I instructed to change to "aftermarket injector" software to lower my egt's?

Less duration, less fuel. lower egt's?

OK, I've been experimenting with stock injectors, stock turbo, stock torque management and mild torque management on LEVEL 1 all weekend.

Now that I've run the stock injectors, stock turbo, mild torque management on LEVEL 1 (version 4. 11B, 211A), I'm really liking it. Truck just seems way more responsive down low and look out at highway speeds.

I'm going to run it for approx 1 tank (500 miles) and see if my "pre-Smarty" mileages improves above 16. 8mpg.

I don't know what happened the first time I downloaded the software, but now that I've downloaded over and over again and really started driving it, I am really liking it. Its not too loud (clatter) and very smooth.

Thanks,

Louis

If you have an after market clutch you shouldn't have to worry about it. But with the different levels of TM, you could give your stock clutch some problems if you run the wild TM. Am i right Mr. Wagner???
