So some of you know I put in a smarty touch to remove TQ management lag and return the control to the driver. For the mostpart this has helped and I run only at the 30 and 60hp levels with my Aisin as apparently 2-3K more for this transmission didn't get me internals that I would have expected given I could get an awesome rebuilt transmission for the same cost as this OEM. If I paid less for the OEM vs built transmission I could understand I would not be getting a stronger transmission but I think the aisin is a scam if it really cant handle 30-70 more HP.

Anyway, part 2. Now I also like the gauges that aftermarket tuners offer but I have been finding that the touch in the 2017 doesn't register all the PID they advertised it would. Important ones like EGT and EX pressure to ensure not too much backpressure (felt by some to be the cause of gasket rupture) to name a few not existent or working.

I have had a nice conversation with Jim at Smarty support.com who has tried to fill the void when MADDS took down the user forum and I am hoping that MADD, apparently the parent company for Smarty, Raceme, MM3. I see that there is not a great manual that educates users on the features, no suggestions, no model specifics as to which PIDs are available on with year trucks, How the custom features can safely be used on stock trucks, etc. Tremendous opportunity here.

I was extremely happy with my smarty jr in my 5.9 but I feel like I am in the dark with the touch on the 2017 with the information void and what appears to be a tuner that was not updated to gather 2017 info from the truck.

Diesel Domination Performance Module as one member is pushing having had experiences with many other modules is something perhaps I need to look into and Edge products as well now that I know the exact information I need to see if they truly support my vehicles capabilities and provide support and education.

Sorry for the typos, using my sons gaming keyboard and it is too sensitive but I think you all get what I am trying to get across

My 2004 4500 Aisin handled Smarty level 5 towing 21K Lb 5er for 8 years with no problems. It's easier and cheaper to overbuild specs than to precisely build to them and that's exactly what Aisin has done. I'm confident my current Aisin would handle more than its rated at as well. And I don't know anyone who has trashed their's physically and only a couple who have trashed them with words.

Good look in trying to get yours they way you want it... I like mine and it is the most capable truck I've owned to date.

Cheers, Ron

Thanks. I’m getting there. I am going to do some dyno runs to see what is really happening. 80 bucks for three runs may be worth it to fine out how much extra is really being put out at each level.

I love my Aisin pulling and went to Colorado and back last summer. Couldn’t tell there was a big trailer behind me. Well I could but you know what I mean

I bet the new 2019 Aisin at 400hp and 1000. Ft lbs has the same internals.

......I bet the new 2019 Aisin at 400hp and 1000. Ft lbs has the same internals.

They could advertise 2000 ftlb's , if the truck never delivers it. Therefore the trans could be the same.

On a completely different but related subject, didn't Ford get sued by a bunch of Mustang buyers when the cars would not produce anything close to the advertised power?o_O

brill. Didn’t you do any research before buying a truck with an Aisin? Complaining about spending extra for it when everyone here has read a days worth of info about Not to buy one if your going to tune ?
Ps. Don’t touch a hot stove. It’ll hurt.

All my "research" suggested that the aisin is a better transmission. The national rep stated the same and suggested it can handle more than what the engine is putting out now. I suspect there was no change with the 1000ftlb new trucks but only your hairdresser will know for sure. It should not be the customers job to figure out what the transmission can handle. This data and other specs should be made available. Hiding the specs makes it impossible for anyone to be speaking as if they know whether you should tune or not tune. The tq management and not the overall power the truck puts out has been my complaint and many others. Honestly my 5.9 took off smoother and faster than the new trucks and it "only" had a 48re. Do they not trust the aisin to be able to launch the new trucks with the same allowances as the 5.9s? I think only an inside design engineer would be able to answer that and the one on the phone with my local dealer did state the TQ management is there to protect the transmission so they DO NOT trust the aisin behind even the stock engine without some degree of TQ management. What I have been saying is that they just overdid it if it cant perform as smoothly as the older generation trucks and that is a dam design shame for something this expensive. Poor engineering in my opinion.
