What is the highest SW level I can tow an 11,000 # trailer (or the best setting for mpg) and also do we need to download the latest software releases every time to keep our smarty's up to date?

A stock trans will not take more than 1 for very long with 11k in tow. 1 makes a very nice improvement

yep, 15k on stock transmission,no problems yet. Been running on sw 3,guess i'll put it on sw1 before i hook to 5'th wheel.

If you dont have any transmission upgrades, I wouldnt go past 1. :{

Sound advice for towing. Towed SW level 3 (original program), 25-27k combined wt. Stock trans began to slip in OD. Then slippage when passing without trailer.

Now, Dave Goerrand 3D TC and VB= No Slippage :D

sw 1 is rated 30HP with timing (actual dyno number47)

software 1 will also produce lower egt's vs. stock typically 100-150F lower.

It seems like mpg increase varies from truck to truck.

I try to drive it pretty normal and can't complain about the 48RE trans,seems to be doing the job well so far. I have downloaded the latest updates off the madds site (mild tm) on SW 1 and mileage has gone up to 15 city and 20-21 hwy. motor has more rattle like a 2nd gen truck now but thats OK! Hats off to Bob,Marco and the gang for a great product Oo. Oo.
