For a lot of you big boys this isn't a big deal but for me and my stocker (check sig. ) I was pretty impressed. I'll try and make it short. My next door neighbor has a 2005,Quad cab,4x4,swb,Hemi and we never met up on the highway before until yesterday. I pulled up behind him on the on ramp. I followed him for awhile until I got the engine temp up and the whole time I could see him checking his mirrors, he was waiting for something. We just come into the bottom of a 2 mile long steep grade, both of use in the slow lane and a car ahead of him doing about 60mph. I pulled out to pass him and as soon as I got by he jumped on the Hemi. I out pulled him by a couple of more truck lengths, I think just because I had a jump on him but then pulled about another length on him in the next 1/4 mile. We crested the top of the hill doing about 115mph and he never gained an inch on me. Slowed down because of another car and passing lane ended, passed the car then about 1 mile run down the other side. About 3/4 way down he was 5-6 lengths behind and slowly starting to gain on me doing about 117mph when we came to our exit ramp. At the end of the ramp I was going right and he was going left, normally he would role his window down and tell me how he blew my doors off, he just tooted the horn with on comment. To be fair his truck is totally stock and I had the smarty on 3 but I think with no Smarty I would not of had a chance. I know with the 4. 11's he would have got me eventually on the top end. Maybe he was holding back but he's not the type of guy to do that he hates to loose at anything. I hope I didn't hurt the truck, I was pushing 1350-1400 egt for about 10 seconds at the top of the first grade, the downhill on the back side wasn't as bad. So does this sound plausible?

Thanks for listing,Rob.

You should not be picking on stock qc hemis, you will give them a complex. Most already wish they had opted for a CTD and it is not nice to rub salt in the wounds. But it sure is fun!

Not trying to be arrogant or nothing but I use my truck for work and I really look after it except on this day it was so filthy dirty you couldn't even tell what color it was. He is very fussy with his truck and with a few extras on it, it was so shinny it hurt your eyes except for black smoke residue on his chrome grill. :D All in good fun I'm sure I'll eat my words some day soon.

He wouldn't have top ended you, both have the same speed limiter on them. I know, I had a Hemi 2500. Unless he's chipped, like mine was, I buried the speedo in it. But with my CTD, about where the limiter comes in is where the truck red lines (106'ish) so I'm not gonna mess with it. But the CTD gets to speed quicker than my Hemi EVER could! :-laf

Guy next door as the same hemi as picture in that top of this thread.

only one time had we left to go some place at the same time. My truck was cold (just off the block heater). The Juice wasn't fueling and I wasn't going to run the EZ hard either. He keeps saying how he spanked me. :)

I laugh and then with a straight face, rematch for pay checks?

He's like no thanks. heh.

I think a 2wd SWB Hemi would be a good run for a re-programmed CTD. The usual competition which run the 4x4 1500 QC Hemi are easy to beat with just about any programmer attatched to a CTD. I ran a 2500 Hemi 4x4 at a light once with my Edge/ Attitude set at 3x5 It was seriously no match, he had the infamous "dual" slash-cut 3" tips coming out the back and all, K&N stickers on the back glass etc.....

Even funnier is when you get a Silverado or Tundra next to you, for some reason these guys are always trying to race me. As an FYI a stock 4. 7 4x4 Tundra will pull on a stock 4x4 2500/3500 CTD. I had a lady edge me out, caught me at a light with my programmer set on "stock" she was just a bed-length ahead the entire time, pretty impressive still if you ask me considering my truck was heavier, less cylinders and diesel :-laf We got to the next light where I realized I was in stock mode. Turned it up to 5x5 to ensure the beating. I was so far ahead of her it wasn't funny after that.

I got a weird question, not sure if he's on here or not but I caught up with an identical truck to mine a bout a week ago on the freeway. He got to my door while we were already going about 75 mph. I think his truck was a 2004 though because it didn't have the Rams head on the gate. Anyway all I have as far as performance parts are an Edge/ Attitude everything else stock. I could hear his intake and turbo whistle, as well as he had an obvious 5" Exhaust system etc... . gauges on the post and so on. I had probably 950+ lbs aboard loaded in the box. We were dead even for a few seconds and then my truck notably started pulling away very slowly. His truck was empty as far as I could tell and I had my Edge/ Attitude set at 3x5 we stopped at the governor?

Sorry about that my (in head) metric converson is way off. My speedo showed 175 kms which is 108. 73 mph, but if felt like it was still pulling when before it seem to hit a brick wall at 105 mph. Trying to keep it bulls@#* free.

I have a 05 QC 1500 Laramie w/hemi and Superchips, CAI, TB spacer and flowmasters pretty damn quick and fun to drive! When I starting dating my girlfriend she thout I was a redneck for driving a truck now we are engaged and she won't give my truck back :{ , so I'm going to let her have it and I'm going back to the CTD! Can't wait to get one of the newer CTD's and see how much better they are compared to my 99 3500.

I found a trick to cure this problem with my woman stealing my truck... . get a stick shift..... she still tries, but can't get the shift pattern down. If she does figure it out... . get a Smarty & they have a program for theft that shuts the truck off when they try to hit the go pedal. Then you can say..... you'll never figure this out... . you can't even get it moving without stalling it. :-laf ... Falls for it every time.
