Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Smarty vs Edge

I am 12 and the son of Gregg Mig. I herd him talking to my cousin about a Smarty. Well my has a Edge ez. But my cousin was talking his Dad into buying a Smarty. I have herd that the smarty is betterfor towing but witch one gives you better exceralation



So my main question is what is better edge ez or smarty???

I have had both as well, I would choose the EDGE.



If I had a stick shift truck I would agree, I think the Smarty would be desirable, but not so with the auto.

I have the edge drag comp and i also tried a smarty for a weekend. The smarty was fun to drive with to a certain point(I did not like the way it would let my truck fall on its face). In the end i would not give up my drag comp for it. Drag comp just has way too much all around performance. I love it with my set up.

Was it falling off on the 3-4 shift? That's where I notice it.

Hey guys, he was talking the EZ not the fueling box. Try the Smarty with a TST or Blue Chip if you want a comparison that isn't apples vs oranges.

I'll set aside my auto trans problems with Smarty for this thread since I see the signature is a manual transmission.



I started with an Edge EZ, then swapped over to a Smarty. The low end of the Smarty is by far better, BUT the EZ was smoother power through the midrange and on up to 2000 rpm.

like the rest of the guys said here mike i think the edge is good for all around use, but the smarty has more settings and you can adjust it to the type of driving that you want to do, which is one of the key components of the smarty. not to mention the smoke. lol

Another option - sell the EZ for around $300 and buy a Comp (you can find them used for $500 or less usually). Costs you $200 to upgrade big time and is very adjustable from 'mild manners' to 'kill' without being locked in to ONE software setting at a time.
