ya there have been a few slow releases of smarty beta software, but look at the power lmills truck made with smarty. show me what big numbers ppe is putting out. just keep your ppe and you can watch all the rest of us smarty boys drive right on bye.

Ive kinda wanted to try PPE, but really, anything other than Smarty would be a step back.



What are these supposed "false claims?" I hear from a select few that say that there are false claims, but I dont see them. Theres no better customer service than youll find from Marco and Bob, thats a proven fact. Theyve fixed numerous ECMs from other downloaders. They keep pushing the envelope. Ive yet to see proof of a 4k tune from anybody other than Smarty. It just cant be beat. It is simply the best when when it comes to CR downloaders. But to each their own. Hope you like the PPE. I think they make good stuff, but its mostly the DMax that has the best they have to offer...

Burning Bridges is never a good idea, Smarty has not made any false claims, I am aware of, at least for the 3rd gens.



Marco/Bob have recovered ECM's crashed by other downloaders, I have yet to hear of any other product, stepping up to do that!



PPE may well be a great program, as soon as you have a glitch, I am sure you will be bad mouthing them as well.

We actually did a side-by-side comparison of the PPE and Smarty recently on the dyno. The truck was an 06 with twins, injectors, dual cp3's, PPE, and an EZ. The PPE made 697rwhp, while the Smarty made 766rwhp. I didn't go for a ride in it both ways, so I don't know how much difference there would have been in driveability, but the smarty clearly won the power battle.



On a side note... the service and versatility with the Smarty is unmatched. I too would like to see a list of complaints from DerekW.

The fellow who started the post likes to stir the pot. Do a search on some of his former posts. I would question the credibilty of his claims. If I recall he was having quite the time with his ppe programmer.

Was the Smarty also stacked with an EZ for that test and the results you posted? What program was run on the Smarty?

I am not sure if anyone can match Smarty's customer service. They even help out people when other manufactures programers have wiped out their ECM's. A fellow on another site had his ECM wiped out bt a Diablo Predator. Marco at Smarty sent a recovery program to someone in the vicinity who down loaded the program into the truck and the person was up and running. Cost a whopping $0. 00. See if anyone else will do that or even can.

downloads are not under the claimed a minute and a half in like i see advertised for starters. I bought it to try it on the gf's truck and the PPE actually takes the same amount of time and the gf dont have the patience to sit there and do nothing the entire time.

this truck is just faster with the PPE HOT 1 than the smarty thats really all there is too it. I think the guy above me dynoed a regular base model PPE. as far as customer service I havent dealt with mads electronics directly but I have dealt with one of their dealers that cant seem to call you back. alot of people like smarty dont get me wrong. This PPE is much faster on this truck. Now that the truck with the PPE has sheded alot of weight (drw long bed qc to srw short bed qc) shes alot faster.

The claimed download for the Smarty Jr. I have is 3. 5 to 5 minutes depending on the truck model. This is from the Mads Electronics web site Mads Electronics - Smarty - CaTCHER - Dodge Tuning - Home. It took 3 to 4 minutes for my download if that.

The EZ was on level 3 for both the PPE and smarty numbers posted (we rain it on all levels, but I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head). The PPE was the 215hp model, as we were trying to make it a fair comparison. Smarty was wild #9 aftermarket turbo/aftermarket injector.

is it possible to do a shoot out with the smarty 170 and the ppe hot version? I am thinking the smarty would still win, but if not it would be pretty close. Also it appears to me that that smarty is over 200 dollars cheaper than the hot version...

Umm... ok... a complaint on the load time?? Haha, whats expected of a downloader? Get it started to load, walk in the house, take a leak, get a drink, or have a couple cookies or whatever, walk out and its done. Not that hard!!



Ever time Ive seen the Smarty dynoed against another downloader, for instance Smartyvs PPE vs BullyDog, where the truck is left on the dyno and the only change is the programmer, has been hands down Smarty puts down more power. I dont recall anybody dynoing less in such a comparison...



But, like stated, every truck responds differently to different things. One might run like a SOB with BullyDog, while another just like it is a complete dog. If thats the case, fine, just dont go saying your fed up with Smartys "false claims," because that in itself IS a false claim...

If I recall correctly the 1 - 1&1/2 minit download time was in reference to the 2nd gen smarty. NOT the 3rd gen. My smarty (2nd gen) is faster than any other programmer I've tried. If download time is the only complaint, it's a poor reason to sh1tface the smarty.

Q. How long does it take to update the ECM with Smarty?



A. We've done some serious research in order to minimize the time needed for an update. We've developed special

boot loaders which cut the required time for an update dramatically.

A typical update is done in 1'55'' with Smarty S-03 and 3'30" with Smarty S-04! It depend on truck model: for 2007 the

needed time could be up to 5 minutes.

Furthermore, we've worked hard in order to have you press as little keys on Smarty as possible. Once you get used to

Smarty it takes a few minutes from the moment you plug in Smarty to finsh. With the fastest competition it takes more

than twice that time.



My 2005 truck takes about 5 min.

Seems like you really dont have your information straight Derek. If you don't have an extra minute are two to wait for the smarty to download, all I can say is WOW. So many false claims but I see you have only listed 1. Not to mention did you even run the latest updates on the smarty for the 3rd Gen, that could have made a real improvement. Since the smarty is always getting better as you can see from the numerous updates, Its like the Smarty never quits working for its customers. LOL

The ppe hot adds 300 hp at the flywheel compared to the smarty adding only 170 at the rear wheels, This is why it is probably faster derek. You can't compare things when there not claming the same power levels. You should put the ppe to 170 or the closest thing to it and i bet smarty would win. Also just wait fot the smarty race tunes to come out, i bet it would blow ppe out of the water. Also you cant beat smarty customer service in my opinion.
